In the show he always liked getting modifications that why he’s body had mismatched parts. Originally the creators wanted him to look more like a Frankenstein‘s monster but they modified the design to better fit Lockdown's more business-like nature

What I've heard, as for why the animated toys are so close to their show counterparts, was due to Derrick J. Wyatt working closely with the toy designers resulting in the simple and clever transformations on these super stylized designs

In the series, Lockdown was an unaligned bounty hunter, he often collect different parts he called "trophies" and installed them into his own body.

I got mine back when my oldest was a baby. still have him after all these years! Now my son has inherited him but we've been playing with him for many years and his quality has really stood the test of time. Absolutely one of the best out of any line I've ever heard!

The asymmetrical look is not so much due to battle damage, but rather to how Lockdown actually has an habit of stealing parts of the autobots he captured and implementing them on himself. As you can see on his animation model,he has a bit more of a Frankenstein look.

Same as his alt mode, its actually a mash up of several different muscle cars, the base being a Corvette with hints of the Charger/Challenger, Mustang, etc. To fit with the whole, take the best to make himself better idea

Continuing with the whole stealing parts/trophy hunter thing Lockdown had going on, his alt mode is also based off of several different muscle cars. The base is the Chevy Corvette, with some features of the Dodge Charger/Challenger, Ford Mustang, and I believe a couple others that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Definitely one of the favourites from my collection, I remember as soon as I saw the muscle car alt mode I had to have it! just managed to grab the clear plastic 'stealth' version they did a few years ago too, he looks amazing in that 90's crystal plastic

I did get the Stealth version of this mold, and even it was cool for the time. Sadly, due to it being mad of mostly transparent plastic, some of the pieces have broken off, so I am hoping we get a Legacy figure of this guy, and something good enough to replace the SS Lockdown on my shelf.

Since Hasbro is giving some of the 'Animated' characters the "G1 Treatment" (Animated Prowl) I agree! LOCKDOWN is a character I would love to see get the same reimagining in the Legacy: Evolution line. And I hope there is a way to attach a weapon to his head to reproduce the "Gun-face" from the AOE Movie ...LOL

Man, I remember watching Transformers Animated when I was little and I love Lockdown's vehicle mode when he first appeared. Wonder what vehicle mode of Lockdown would be in the prequel movies like Bumblebee or transformers rise of the beasts. Probably a 1973 Ford Falcon XB V8 Interceptor from MAD MAX?

Man this guy is so cool! Asides from those wrists haha, I remember taking a knife to mine so the hands would fold out further. Don't seem to have this guy anymore, just have the smokey transparent plastic version but I love this guy in his animation colours 😍

I just started watching animated and I'm so disappointed that I didn't give it a chance back in the day. It quite literally is some great animation and I love the story. I think it's better than Earthspark by far. And what a delight the toys are. Not sure if it's a good idea to try to get into collecting them because they look like they make consta bit and due to the age but wow. Such great designs!

Fantastic review PrimeVsPrime!! Lockdown remains my all time favorite Transformers figure from the Animated line. :D I believe he holds the title of being the tallest deluxe class Transformers figure ever made. I use the repaint of him called "Blazing Lockdown" which replaces his green parts with gold, as the Shattered Glass version of Lockdown, due to his Decepticon logo being black instead of purple. Keep on being amazing.

Just gonna say this before watching. This is my most anticipated review from PvP. I have no doubt his reaction to how awesome Lockdown is will be great. It is so cool seeing people fall in love with these toys a good 15 years later. I was slow to buy into Animated when it was current but the figures I have from it are among my favorites. Also worth noting the worst thing they did not carry over from TFA to the movies with Lockdown is the acting. Lance Henriksen is amazing and he was great voicing Lockdown. A crime they did not cast Lance in AOE. Also funny that the scale of Prime and Lockdown is fairly accurate with the toys.

I used one of those razor blade pen things to cut some space into the plastic on my original figures hands where the little bit prevents them from fully extending, worked a treat. Bumblebee has a similar issue with his stinger weapons making them impossible to fully stow unless you do a similar fix. But I did this with the originals I bought straight from the store, not sure if you're feeling adventurous.

The Tf animated figures had a 90% accuracy to the show according to hasbro. There are instructions on the net to fix lockdown's hands by shaving the plastic that hinder them from looking properly. It was a factory defect on all figures. But it can be fixed.

TFA's version of DC's Lobo :D. I love asymmetrical designs (RTS Wreck Gar) and light piping. I wish I could find this figure for affordable price somewhere. For unknown reasons, vehicle mode gives me somewhat hearse vibe, it also reminds me of 1977 movie "The Car".
