True, collaboration figures or characters should be appropriate to the their altmode. World of ships or war thunder had a collab and they chose Rumble instead of Tidal Wave or Broadside for Tf collaboration.

I will say that I like the idea that Bumblebee's robot mode isn't as beholden to his G1 look as the HISS Megatron was, so that worked in his favor. Of course, there are other things that worked to his detriment. Still would've liked a Beachcomber, though, since he's basically the same vehicle already.

Considering that these have to be functional GIJoe vehicles as well, it's not surprising that they had to make concessions for the robot modes. It's a lot harder to design a transforming robot when the space you would use to store the arms or legs in vehicle mode now has to be a functioning cockpit that holds a 3.75" action figure.

The AWE Striker is essentially a super dune buggy, Beachcomber would have been a better choice but then there's no other GI Joe vehicle Bumblebee could be.

Back when there were Alternators Transformers,, I really wanted to see scaled GI Joe figures with those. It would have been amazing to see Joes and Cobra members behind the wheels of realistic vehicles.

The GI Joe fan in me, these are awesome. I like these better than the retro line Hiss tank and Awe Strike because they look good in vehicle form but the added ability to transform is even better. As transformers go, the transformer fan in me just says neat .... nothing as good as in the generations line ....... The problem is, a transformers fan might pay an extra 20$ for generations style engineering but would a GI Joe fan pay for that?

The rifle that stalker came with is a welrod which is British made during WWII and around 14,000+/- was made as a "get it out fast" kinda gun and the gun for BB looks to be a flamethrower possibility WWI/WWII German or British or American style by the tip of it tho

It almost feels like between this and the Megatron as though we're seeing a modern version of G1. Kibble everywhere, limited articulation, decent alt modes but heavily compromised robot modes. Actually getting some nostalgia vibes off of them. Might pick up Megatron if they do an Optimus counterpart.

Well, that may be because Hasbro had the GI Joe team design them and not the Transformer team; I guess the accuracy of the vehicle mode was deemed more important.

Bumblebee was the first Transformer that I ever received. Stalker was the first G.I. Joe that I ever had. And the A.W.E. striker was the first G.I. joe vehicle that I ever had.

EMGO… thanks for the quality reviews. I’ve been collecting TF for years and have recently gotten into GI Joe classified. FWOOSH is the best GI Joe classified reviewer I’ve seen. Y’all are similar in that your enjoy playing thru the reviews. Y’all make it fun and enjoyable… So I just wanted to say thanx!! I think the big problem with this and Megatron is the fact they built them around fitting the 3.5 inch Joe figures and in the same scale as their matching regular vehicles. if they hadn't dealt with that scale they could've been 1000x better, they wouldn't have had to have been as big and chunky so more budget could've went into the parts count for kibble management.

Hasbro seriously needs to go back to original character's for there collaborations, seems like the last batch, which includes the G.I.Joe collabs and the Street Fighter collabs are just alternate versions of established characters. Btw I'd love a Scooby doo Mystery machine colab or even an A-team colab, can you imagine. Dammit, make a K.I.T.T Transformer now please.

Apparently these figures were designed by the GI Joe team not the Transformers team (they were more consultants) which honestly explains alot as to why the alt mode looks fantastic but the bot mode sucks.

From the design and build quality it's less of a Transformer that turns into a Joe vehicle, and more of a Joe vehicle that turns into a transformer.

Sure they could make them better with better connection/articulation points. I venture it would have cost at least another $50-75 if they had. Nevertheless they are impeccable in their alt modes. They are the absolute best in employing the crossover robots in disguise. It is obvious the robot mode was not as big a thought than interacting with classic ARAH o-ring Joes. It is a great gimmick. One I don’t think would have made the cut for including back in 1980s due to their more flimsy transformation. This is mostly a display/nostalgia tug type of collectible. I am really intrigued by the kind of fresh redesign of the characters. Bumblebee is a more popular character, part of the magnificent seven. But of course they had an actual dune buggy Transformer in Beachcomber they could have used. They could have also went with the military themed Hound. But I think previous crossover offerings did come into play here. They did Hound as a VAMP in the convention exclusive. So he Starscream, Shockwave, Powerglide, and Jetfire/Skyfire already exist in this crossover mini-brand. So I think they will work to make different characters. The rumors of Triple T/Grimlock, Ironhide, ?fill in blank? as well as Dreadnock Thunder Machine/Soundwave show they are interested in trying less obvious connections. Personally Optimus Prime as a military vehicle like a Tank are really interesting ideas to me. I think with this gimmick and any desire to keep a relative scale will limit which Joe vehicles they can use. I love the Skyhawk but there just isn’t enough bulk/plastic to make that vehicle into anything more in scale to a 5-6” robot figure. I think their desired scale is for the smaller bots like Bumblebee to be 7-8” bots. Megatron and Prine to be 10-11” size. So Optimus Prime cannot use the much bigger APC carrier or WHALE. He’d be Titan scale. So a MOBAT tank or even the Warthog could give Prime the right amount of plastic to be about Megatron HISS tank size. Prime could be HAVOC too. More engineering to make him same size as Megatron. Sorry. I love this concept! It’s a toy 10-11 year old he dreamed of. So I’m a bit more forgiving and hopeful for at least four more offerings. I think a total of 3 Autobots and 3 Decepticons is a great round number. I’m really hoping for a Decepticon jet and I do think a Rattler could condense into a Thundercracker. Its longer and a bit bigger than the HISS but the Animated Lugnut seems a good model for a Thundercracker like robot mode and use of Rattler. Again I’m just biased to the G1 characters. It could be Lugnut with o-ring Crimson Twins to pilot and man the swivel canon. Anyway. Good video. It’s fair. I really enjoy these toys so I hope to see more.

I'm serious, look at how the gun plugs in almost like the missle launcher, and the wings, and the build! They were more than likely told to change it to Bumblebee because it's a more familiar character, but didn't change anything left over from Wheeljack.

They really should have used hound for this, or beachcomber. I'm disappointed with the stalker figure. Unless it's done intentionally to look like the original stalker figure. Because they released a really good stalker back in 2004. I honestly like these more as there vehicle modes.

When I received this in October, I was so disappointed. I had high expectations for it. Even though Hasbro went with Bumblebee instead of Hound or Beachcomber, & opt in replacing Crankcase with Stalker, all of that was forgivable. However, the mess in the with bot mode is so meh. But at least it’s scale to Joe vehicles
