Transformers G1 Voice Actor Michael Bell on the Origin of Dinobot Swoop and How He Created the Voice

Swoop is the best Dinobot. While red was, is, and will forever be my favorite color, him being blue made me love him more. While the others were angry, Swoop was super chill. Swoop was my first example of not following the pack, of being your own person, and being true to yourself.

The original toy was red...

@@Davethe3rd The original toy was the Japanese "kyōryū robot Pteranodon" from the Diaclone toyline, and its torso was blue. The character designers who worked on the TF cartoon decided to keep that color, for whatever reason, whereas Hasbro went with red as the main color for all the Dinobots.

Michael's Swoop voice comes from his voice as Grouchy Smurf. Very cool sound but must have been hard on his voice.

Yeah, he did. He meant Grimlock, but I think we got the gist. They all big and powerful, but they have pronoun problems.

In the 50s and 60s, Daws Butler, Don Messick and Mel Blanc were the best voice actors. But during the 70s and 80s, it was Michael Bell and Frank Welker who were the best of that new generation...

@@paulquantumblues3599 as much as i like Cullen, his number of roles was very slight during those decades, whereas Bell and Welker were everywhere, and often in multiple roles.

😮😮😮😮 that sucks but I can see if. He does have a slimmer build. I just hate when they change the character’s genders or appearance.
