Vector Prime is the retool because, per the design documents shown in the behind the scenes, he was designed concurrently with Jhiaxus back in 2021 (before Legacy was officially revealed even). This means he was costed with the Jhiaxus mold and designed with the ethos which lead to Legacy year 1 figures like Knockout and Bulkhead, rather than the actually accurate figures we're seeing now. That's why we're getting a low-effort redesign of the third most important Cybertron character while even Cannonball gets a more comparatively retooled and accurate figure, or Thundertron getting two 90% accurate figures of himself released.

Safeguard originally came from Gigantion, so to me, this figure works as Vector Prime from before he met Safeguard. And FYI, the original Safeguard figure can also fit on this Vector Prime.

Really excited to get him and Hotshot in August. Owning the original, I personally don't mind him being retooled as the Jhiaxus mold underwhelming at first actually turned out to be pretty excellent. Really love how much paint went into the intricate detail opposed to a lot of it just being left stark white with the original. More could have maybe been done with the legs but for a budgeted retool Hasbro still did pretty good.

Wow, Legacy United Cybertron universe Vector Prime is awesome 🤩! Despite having big cable that not supposed be below Vector Prime's spacecraft mode, but for me this guy is still amazing! The most part the sculpt on this guy is completely sharp, i truly love it 😁! I think i have an idea of what DnA design could do if they decided to make an upgrade kit for vector prime. Make new wing pieces that have better posability, a new sword, some gauntlets for his arms and mabe his mini con. I don’t think there’s anything they can do for his shoulder pads or give him his foot blasters. But only time will tell

The figure itself is not bad for a retool, and i will still get him because i like the character in the show. But considering that they made super accurate cybertron figures of Metroplex, Override, Starscream, and Hot Shot, i find it lame that they couldn't be bothered to give Vector Prime his own mold, which he deserves. But hopefully a DNA upgrade kit will come soon to make his shoulder pads and wings bigger, as well as his forearm armor pieces and the safeguard minicon.
