Here is my theory: The bodies in the cave Alpha Trion is in are the dead Thirteen Prime, and the cogs he gave the main cast were pulled from the dead bodies, making them have those glowing moments that we see. Also, WHO DESIGNED SOUNDWAVE?! THE MIDDLE OF HIS BODY IS GONE AND HIS LEGS ARE TOO LONG! It’s like someone looked at the G1 box art and said “Ah, yes. Incredibly disproportionate” It looks good besides that though.

There was an interview with the director. He said that they gave him the "Transformers Bible" with all the fiction and lore in it and said "Make something original with this". And that's exactly what they did and it looks great for the moment. Also, I wouldn't say that the planet's organic. What it looks to be is living metal, constantly melding and shifting like those mountains in the trailer, and sometimes creating parts that split off and form into its own sentient creature like those deer/gazelle we saw. It's not pure organic stuff like plants and real animals. Everything is still pure metal, but it is alive somewhat.

I never understood why people get so upset when the lore changes in a new adaptation of the franchise because it literally happens EVERY SINGLE TIME, each show and movie and universe has its own lore and way of interpreting certain events and it is honestly my favorite part of the franchise, there’s always something new. And I can totally understand just objectively not liking what the story is because you don’t like the ideas instead of disliking it because it’s different, but I’ve seen a lot of people hating online because it isn’t what they grew up with and that always just confused me. This to me was clearly made by people passionate about the franchise who did their research, even if not absurdly deep, they tried and that’s all I’ve ever really wanted, people who care to try. I cannot wait for this movie because to me it seems like an amazing time! And I really hope Megatrons arc gets enough attention and isn’t just thrown in at the end.

Counterpoint: If something isn't broken, you don't fix it. If something *is* broken, _actually_ fix it. That last one's really subjective, though. Also, the older you get, the less hope you have of seeing next time. My health isn't the greatest, but neither am I expected to die in the next 20 years. Now, say _Transformers: One_ is a huge enough hit it has the longevity of the Bay films. We get a solid decade of these that also informs the animated series during this period, maybe even spills over into the comics (at least a little). Even after that, Hasbro is reluctant to undo some changes. Unless you *are* primarily a G1 fan, you're hoping there are enough homages to what you do like. Whatever comes after such a period, I'm going to seem _really_ demanding because it might be my last chance! I'm not even sure if I do or don't like _Transformers: One_ yet. However, I got tired of people writing off dissatisfaction with "changes" to various franchises I've enjoyed as "geewunnerism" and the like, saw your comment, and felt compelled to explain why *some people have good reason for it.*

A few things, Orion says something along the lines of “we’re worker bots, we can’t even transform” if I had to guess it’s just miners/workers don’t have t-cogs so those in power have an easier time keeping them in line and it seems like Alpha Trion (who does have his strange lion/unicorn/wolf mode) gives them the t-cogs from the corpses of the thirteen. The other thing is we see plenty of bots on the surface so I believe that’s probably just another thing that has to do with Orion and crew being workers. Steve Buschemi is Starscream and if I had to guess the scene where we see him, Shockwave, and Soundwave is during the war.

If anyone has some reservations about the frequent humor, please remember that a first trailer is not always representative of the movie. I remember many good animated movies had some shaky first trailers (Spider-Verse specifically) so I think we should wait a bit until more is shown later on.

There's always room to play around with a character concept, but at the same time, change too much and why not use a different character? Also, fixing what isn't broken means you gotta come up with something better, or at least just as good but also interesting. Which is a tall order. I confess, I go both ways on this. I don't like reinventing the wheel but I also tire of constantly reusing "proven" characters. Maybe it just means I'm impossible to satisfy. Maybe I just don't know how to properly phrase it. I mean, I grew up on G1. Beast Wars hit when I was a teenager. Yet my favorite iteration of Transformers is Animated, with RiD2001 a close second (and my previous favorite).

Mirage being a wacky comedy guy and wheeljack being Pedro in RotB was annoying, especially since they could have used less prominent copyrighted names or totally new names for what are basically new characters. But it is what it is. Looking for consistent characterization and continuity in TF is a losing battle. G1 is my comfort food from childhood but BW is my fav. I have a soft spot for certain characters in most TF shows (Knockout deserves his own show, perhaps a medical drama or talk show) but I don’t tend to go bout if my way to consumed modern TF content.

I'm not opposed to them being friends before the war, it's usually the case that it was something like that, but I do also just miss Megatron being pure evil too. I miss the classic villains who are evil for evils sake, even if that's not realistic. But I do agree that they shouldn't be the reasons the two factions are fighting. The two factions should be fighting because the factions are opposed, not because their leaders are Beefing.

This Sweeps it all under the rug making all of Cybertronian history surrounded around two friends who disagreed. This is Transformers, not X-men.

That is a concern I have. Depending on how well the movie is written it could just go "I'm a good guy, wait I found an old book, I guess I'm full evil now." So a lot of this will be contingent on how well the writing is handled. I get the desire to write something with more nuance, but I do miss the days when the Bad Guys were just allowed to be evil, and not all have Tragic backstories about how the fell to it... Honestly Batman is probably HEAVILY responsible for that.

Im mixed on it. I also hate it how the fans try to connect this to previous TF media as if they dont take inspiration. Just because bee calls himself b-127 and has an alt mode similar to the BBM doesnt mean it's connected. Just becasue you see airachnid, and a vehicon doesn't mean it's c9nnected to TFP, just becasue their designs are G1 inspired isn't connected to G1. It couod quite literallyvbe it's own thing. Im also not to positive due to the comedy, yes Transformers had comedic moments but they didn't need it to carry the films/shows

Maybe the casts don't have T-cogs because on this Cybertron Quintessons enslaved all Cybertronians and removed their T-cogs (and only a select few were allowed to keep them)? I won't repeat my biggest problem with the trailer (the goofy tone) as that dead horse has been beaten over and over. The other big issue I have is that once again, Hasbro shows ZERO creativity to which G1 characters they spotlight. Elita-1 doesn't get enough attention? She gets more attention than 95% of G1 characters, IMO. That's the problem: Hasbro keeps spotlighting the same boring 7: Optimus, Bee, Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, and (take your pick of Shockwave, Elita-1, Soundwave's cassettes, Jazz, Wheeljack, Seekers, etc.). It's the same G1 guys over and over in any form of media (comics, cartoons, etc.). There are people who complain that the franchise is too G1 focused. G1 isn't the problem; the real problem is that Hasbro keeps using the same tiny cast of G1 characters over and over, ignoring the 98% of all the other G1 TFs. What about Blaster? Brainstorm, Nightbeat, Swerve, Sixshot, Kup, Blurr, the Predacons, Quickswitch, Fort Max, Crosshairs, the Micromasters, the Pretenders, the Seacons, etc, etc, etc? Hasbro, you're telling me that Cyclonus or Galvatron wouldn't sell? There are other interesting TF characters out there besides Starscream. Imagine how boring Marvel Comics would be if all the stories featured Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wolverine? Or if all DC Comics stories only featured Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern? What a boring world we'd live in.

I've seen people compare the trailer's humor to Marvel movies and saying that it should've been darker and more serious since it's a prequel. Personally, I see it as potentially more akin to Animated, Cyberverse or Earthspark where all the humor is just hiding some mature and compelling writing that the trailer is simply not good at conveying like any other trailer for an animated film.

I'm glad you enjoyed the trailer. I also think it looks fun. I also like the art style for a different reason. I like that despite being animated, they decided to go more realistic look on the metal. Maybe realistic isn't the right word, maybe hyper exaggerated is better. I just like that you can tell they're metal. I know who storyboarded this film. He says the reason he wanted to work on this film is due to the strong emotional ending. The design is goofy af as this movie should be which is really good, it works really well for what it is. The story seems fresh, the premise kinda reminds me of Aligned novel but with different path. TLK failed miserablely and now Paramount doesn't want to risk a TF6. Bumblebee is a prequel and a reboot. The latter being what moviegoers want for the franchise. ROTB deserves more hate. It's a jumbled mess that was trying please everyone. It can't decide whether it wants to be a sequel to Bumblebee or a Bay film. The Last act is so Bayish, I'm convinced De Bonaventura won and got to eat his cake too. Transformers One has a chance to be It's own thing; disregard the previous films for It's own continuity.

B has only ever been used as his nickname, and it's not very special of Megatron to give Bumblebee a single-syllabuled nickname which was just the first letter in his name anyway

Optimus Prime might as well be Hollywood Hogan. For those who say that the complaints are coming from people who don't want change, you're not paying attention. I'm complaining because they're NOT doing anything different. I want them to do something fresh and exciting vs the same safe formula all time. That's what made the 1986 movie so great; killing off Optimus Prime. Do something different. Go with a different leader.

Some fan theories is that the main 4 have super powers-like cogs because they got the cogs from the dead members of the 13. In a decades spanning franchise, adhering to lore *matters*. I do not like Bumblebee and Elita-1 being part of Optimus and Megatron's origin stories. These two are supposed to be *millions* of years old, and BB is a young scout. I'm definitely getting generic 2010s kid adventure movie vibes. Down on their luck/bottom of society main characters get a calling and go on wacky hijinks through a bunch of crazy worlds and end up back home. Yeah it's a hero's journey but I don't expect this movie to surprise me at all in terms of plot.

It’s crazy how much discourse there is for this movie. I can completely see why, especially when people basically wanted a full movie of the Bumblebee opening on Cybertron. I for one am actually looking forward to One because it’s something _different._ It’s a brand new Transformers movie that doesn’t reek of Bay explosions and unfunny suggestive jokes. I’m down for this film’s humor and don’t mind this being geared towards kids. As long as it’s entertaining and has interesting lore and characterization, then I’m good. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing a much more casual and friendly version of Megatron before he becomes the tyrant we all know. Just seems like a fun concept for him and Orion to be buddies before the war. I’m also glad to see that you’re cautiously optimistic for this film. I can see the criticisms you’ve pointed out, so hopefully that stuff will be properly addressed in the film. I will say, I too like the designs, but I felt that there was something off about the faces, so your comment about them looking like furries is hilarious. lol They do sort of have a Navi look to them. Maybe it’s just me, but I also get a little bit of a Bionicle fibe from these designs and animation. The Quintison troopers in particular look like villains from a Bionicle movie, what with the faces looking like masks, big red and doughy looking eyes, and bio organic designs. And yes, please have the actual Optimus keep the blasted mask on for the one minute of screen time he’ll probably have! Either way, I’m looking forward to this. One actually has me both excited and amused by it, while Rise of the Beasts simply made me scratch my head for the studio’s inability to learn from Bumblebee’s higher points. Heck, even Chris Hemsworth sounds great as Orion. I never found him to be a bad actor anyway. The MCU just wanted a goofy Thor is all.

I think it's important to try and take into account what the movie wants to be, not what you want it to be. I know people wanted something grittier, but we've known for a while that it was going to be set pre war, and even still you can't hold what you hoped it was going to be against what it's trying to be.

Because you went into this with the level of missunderstanding that Beast Wars haters go into Beast Wars with. All Cybertronians don't live underground, only the worker bots who work in the mines. Orion literally stated this, and you can see surface level cities. Cybertron has always had oil. Oil comes from compressed organic matter. It's actually not possible to have Cybertron in a golden age state without that piece of knowledge. Plus in general it makes Cybertron so much more interesting than just another city planet. You disliking transformation cogs is a skill issue on your end, and isn't a bastardization of the lore. Also just... Really? Wasn't one of the things you liked about Beast Wars was that they had computers that let their bodies transform? You realize that the modern depiction of T-Cogs is just that, except they don't need to say something every time they transform. The robots we humans make don't need T-Cogs to transform because the robots we humans make don't transform. The ones we make to replicate Transformers are entirely built around transforming and not around being sentient or walking all that well and MUCH less fighting. That kind of thing would basically take an entire other processing system to do due to lack of relation... you know, like Beast Wars. Also "Why would humans need an entire separate organ for filtering minerals" much? Unless you manually control all of your organs functions I don't think you have room to complain about the organs of aliens. Yeah it's blatantly the case they were removed when they were forged. They have huge holes in their chests, holes that none of the other characters have. Again its explicitly stated in the trailer that Orion, Elita, D-16, and B are different from common cybertronians. "We're just lowly worker bots who can't even transform" you hearing this single line should have shut up most of what you're whining about. Why are they lowly? Oh yeah, because they're below other citizens. Can't even transform? My goodness, an imposed inequality? Why, it seems like anyone with basic media literacy would be able to instantly grasp what that means. And if you're still not getting it, let's rephrase it to human terms. "We're just lowly farm hands who can't even vote" "I don't like, I don't like, I don't like" Okay... so you've thrown all objectivity out the window. The "bastardization" of the lore would be an objective aspect, you can't be saying "I don't like". This is basic critique. It's not "I don't like TLJ Luke because hes a sad miserable dipshit" it's "Despite Hammil doing a fantastic job portraying severe depression in an utterly realistic way, the idea of Luke Skywalker instantly turning to murder a family member is extremely out of character and directly contradicts the conclusion of Return of the Jedi". There are many synthetic types of oil, it does not solely have to come from rotting plant matter. I didn't say that was a Bastardization of the lore. I fully understand that they are part of the franchise for a long time. I don't like that they are, just like I don't like the 13 Primes. Transforming robots is a thing that Predates Microchange, and is an idea that's been part of the idea of Robots since almost the Beginning. And you severely overestimate how hard it is to program a robot to essentially sit down in a specific way. It is not explicitly stated that they are different. No where is it stated. It's implied through the designs, but not stated. And if they were removed when the were forged, why are they not trying to get their own back, rather than go meet with a god on the surface to get one. You are putting a lot of meaning into that line that is not supported. It's entirely possible that the only people who can transform are like Religious leaders, saying that they are workers does not mean that only Workers can't transform. I would also like to point out you are pissed at me when my video is one of the ONLY positive ones. My attitude is "This is taking me a little to get used to, but I think this will probably be good." I tuned in at 6am on Paramount's youtube channel to view the trailer live, but had to wait another hour for the trailer to premier. Since Paramount and Hasbro did this launch the trailer in a small craft into space countdown stunt. So I tuned back in at 7am, and Bam! Trailer hits the screen live, and I got to admit, I like it. Sure, I agree that the characters look like Fortnite skins, but like how Transformers One looks. I rewatch the trailer a few time on the Hasbro Pulse youtube channel, and soon after, Hasbro reveal Studio Series 112 Optimus Prime for TF:One. Looking forward to seeing the movie in theaters in September. -It's funny how you assume that Alpha Trion looks like a furry, because it's true. His mainline toy shows his alt mode as a horn wolf lion animal.

It definitely ain't got that "Bayverse & Animated mixed in a blender" look like Transformers Prime had. (Fortnite skins?? Nah, that's an insult to the fugliness of Fortnite...) Also not a fan of having to obtain transformation cogs like they're some sorta magical artifacts or Power Rangers Morphers/Super Sentai Changers or something. BUT!! So I have some thoughts about everything I’ve seen and heard about for this movie, and I’ll probably explain it in two comments. Starting with designs, voices, and lore, I definitely like a decent amount of the designs I’m seeing. From what I’ve heard, the designs are based on the past 40 years of varying Transformers iterations, and I think it shows. Orion Pax (pre T-cog) looks more like his G1 counterpart, and D-16 (pre T-cog) looks more like G1 comics Megatron. When they get their T-cogs, Orion Pax looks more like IDW Orion (at least the design we saw in the 2-pack with Senator Shockwave), and Megatron looks more like his G1 show design, albeit with some Cyberverse inspiration; and it looks like they’ll go full on Cyberverse inspiration when he becomes proper classic Megatron. The Seeker designs seem inspired by Cyberverse, Shockwave looks like he was ripped right out of the Highmoon games, and Soundwave looks like a more G1 version of his Bumblebee movie design, albeit with what looks like Earthspark Soundwave body proportions. Alpha Trion’s alt mode is actually based on that lion-unicorn creature he turned into for his Titan's Return figure. By the way, when I saw that Alpha Trion didn't have an actual beard this time around, instead now having a long chin that mimicked the beard, I wondered what you thought of it. I was thinking to myself "Well even if this isn't the exact head design Perspective wanted to see used, at least he got the "No facial hair" wish fulfilled for Trion". Personally speaking, Trion's head reminds me of Elder Vakama from the first 3 Bionicle movies. For the voices, I'm mostly okay with them. I like the work Chris has put into Orion, especially since he had help from Peter Cullen; though does anyone else feel as though he sounds like John Cena for some of the voice clips we heard? The VA for Megatron sounds nice for a "younger-sounding" Megatron. If Scarlett puts as much effort into her role as Elita-1 as she did for the Mermaid Princess in the first SpongeBob movie, I think we'll be good. I really wish they had Keegan do a variation of his Toad voice in order to morph it into something akin to TFA Bumblebee's voice; though according to Keegan, it was the director who wanted Keegan to use his regular voice. Also, yes, Steve Buscemi is voicing Starscream. For the lore, it looks like they're taking the lore of the Quintessons ruling Cybertron, alongside the caste system lore and giving it a sort of TFA-like spin of changing something familiar into something new. From what I've heard, the workers and lower class are forced to live underground while the upper class and the Quintessons live on the surface. Also, while Megatron may not be the one to start the general revolution, it does seem that he will be the start of the Decepticon cause. If you look at Starscream, Soundwave, and Shockwave, none of them have Decepticon emblems, whereas Megatron (even as D-16) has the Decepticon emblem on his shoulder, so it seems he will be the start of the Decepticons, he just won't be the start of the entire initial revolution. I also like the Prince of Egypt-style Moses and Ramses relationship they clearly have going for Orion Pax and D-16. I think it will help to flesh out their brotherhood and make their divide a bit more tragic; I’m really interested to see how that goes.

Boy you weren't kidding when you said you have SOME THOUGHTS. I think that's just Marketing Speak for "We made them look at all like they are supposed to look." I did notice the white Arms on Optimus post Tcog and that did make me think of the IDW version. I don't think Shockwave looks particularly like the high moon one, it's really just part of the arm. As for the seekers yeah they look a bit like Cyberverse stuff. It's at least nice that Chris Hemsworth is Really trying, and I do like Megatrons voice. It does indeed look like they are making play on that classic interpretation, though it's a very HEAVY twist to it.
