Fun Fact: The very first Transformers toys originated from Japan from two toy lines from Takara Tomy in the 80s, one is called Diaclone and the other is called Microchange. Optimus Prime came from Diaclone as Battle Convoy and Megatron and Bumblebee came from Micro Change.

I like how this practically becomes a different movie in the middle. It sets up the character dynamics, a simple goal (finding the matrix) and the villains (the quintessons), but the moment THAT twist happens there's a major shift and it WORKS. The problem is that this tone shift makes the movie difficult to market. You can't show people what they most want to see without spoiling parts of the endgame. It's the kind of movie you need to go in willing to let it surprise you.

Ngl, this Transformers film was actually really good! My first thought of it, judging from the trailer was that it was gonna be dumbed down for younger audiences, but to my surprise after watching the film, I found myself enjoying the many good aspects of it. From the characters, animation, the music, and the story, this Transformers origin story was great and I’m glad I got to experience it at an IMAX screening. Extra points for no human characters.👍🏽✨

This is what I've been hoping for since the Cybertron games were released. I love the first and third Bay films. They're what exposed me to this franchise. But this series has always deserved more. I have never been a big fan of Transformers but this movie got me invested in the characters more than anything I have watched. It had an a effective story for turning Optimus and Megatron into enemies and set a solid foundation for what I assume will be a trilogy of films. I’m on board to see what else they’ve got. I had a blast watching this film!! It’s great that we finally got a great transformers movie since the 80s in my opinion. I really enjoyed the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatrons relations and differences, the animation is fantastic, and I did enjoy the characters. One thing I want to point out is that, I like how the truth is meant to be a social commentary message on the issues of corrupted politics, of how some can betray their people secretly. Overall, the wrting may be have generic elements but has great execution in disguise

Transformers Exodus is the only novel I've ever read voluntarily (I'm not much of a reader) so I'm very attached to the origin in that book, and while the origin here is very different, enough of it is the same for me to be satisfied. Orion isn't a data librarian but his introduction scene is him breaking into a forbidden dara library because he's obsessed over the history of Cybertron, felt like a direct reference to that origin to start him off in a data library. Megatron isn't a gladiator, but he is a minor like he is in a lot of continuities and is still obsessed over megatronus prime.

I prefer the 86 version to this. It's a great film but some of it feels extremely kiddy. The 86' film had a harder edge. It also the best Prime and Megatron moments in any of the films. The art looked better in the G1 film and so was the voice acting. Peter Cullen and Frank Welker were in top form.
