250 dollars? If you were talking about U.S. dollars, it should not be that expensive. At least ShowZ Store's price was only 229.99 USD. Anyway, this was a nice and thorough review. I initially decided not to buy this because in the pictures that I had seen of the cassette player mode made it look like a cheap toy instead of a real cassette player. I also did not see that many improvements in the robot mode to the MP-13 that I had. However, after seeing a comparison video from another person here in KZbin I changed my mind, and now that I have it in hand I can see that even the cassette player mode is not very much worse than the MP-13, even though the latter does still look more real. The robot mode, on the other hand, looks so much better, since I want my Transformers figures to look as cartoon accurate as possible. I especially like how clearly bigger Acoustic Wave's head is. Its proportions are just spot on, and even though the alternative mode looks less real than MP-13, it also looks more cartoon accurate. So I really like this figure. The only minus I have about it is that the mechanism pushing a cassette in the back does not seem working properly on my piece. Even so, I do not regret paying over two hundred U.S. dollars of it.
@Paik4Life3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the price is pretty hard to swallow. Glad you're overall enjoying it. I agree that the robot mode is a pretty big improvement, especially if you're into the cartoony look. But I also agree the that alt mode (and the transformation to get there) doesn't seem to be much of an improvement and in some cases is worse. That said, the overall build, quality, and look make this guy enjoyable and not a regrettable purchase!

So the knees are accurate the original is silver, the red yellow yellow is as well I have a re-release G1 and it's spot on to those color patterns.
@Paik4Life3 жыл бұрын
The colors are correct but the order of the colors is not correct. They should be identical pattern not symmetrical is what I'm saying. Both knees should be red, yellow, yellow and that pattern should be towards the right edge (when facing the toy) of the knees. On Acoustic Wave the patterns are red, yellow, yellow and yellow, yellow, red with the patterns being towards the inside of both knees.

Great review, hoping my order gets to me soon! I can't wait to see how he fits in to the collection. I've seen a lot of pics of him with the old MP-13 and some other bots for comparison, but not in a collection set up yet. He's gonna be awesome I am sure. Need to see how well I like FIBRIR too or if I am going to stay with the MMC tapes.
@Paik4Life3 жыл бұрын
He is a very well made figure. He feels fantastic and the ratchets are all great with the only being the knee ratchets being a little weaker than I would have liked. Fibrir is only so-so I would say and definitely hard to compare with Ocular Max's which I absolutely love.

@@Paik4Life Yeah, I think it's going to be a tough sell to replace the MMC tapes. But I'm glad to know the figure is will made all around for Acoustic Wave.

@@Rakerong well he meant the Japanese release which was MP-13 not the US MP-02 release. I think he also meant MP-13 plus the two extra sets of tapes but I could be wrong. He’s wrong a lot though. Lol.

@Paik4Life3 жыл бұрын
@@elandraxe Yeah, like I said in the video, they made things way more complicated and didn't really pay dividends. MP-13 is masterfully done. Simple and elegant. If it had the build/materials like Acoustic, I don't think it'd be much of a choice.
@GordonAu3 жыл бұрын
It helps if you have the front skirts flat (vertical) when collapsing-gives a little more room and lessens the chance of scraping, I think. Thanks for an awesome review, @Paik4Life!

Can you confirm if the blue is painted or bare plastic? there quite a discussion about this
@Paik4Life3 жыл бұрын
I don't think most of the blue is painted because even internal sections of blue still have metallic flake and a beautiful finish. To be honest, if it's this hard to determine, then I would prefer it to be plastic anyway instead of paint. They did paint some sections to match and it is really well matched.
@bradbattley15093 жыл бұрын
@@Paik4Life interesting, ... i suspect it is fully painted and they paint the entire thing piece by piece pre assembly so that we cant tell. But i cant be certain 😅
@Paik4Life3 жыл бұрын
@@bradbattley1509 doubtful. Companies don’t waste time/effort/materials on internal painting. I could be wrong though. I checked a bunch of internal areas though.

@@bradbattley1509 Looks like on TFW they found some parts that show it is actually painted. So I stand corrected. they did an amazing job then! I haven't gotten any flaking yet!
@bradbattley15093 жыл бұрын
@@Paik4Life haha I'm surprised you found that info too! But it could be that only the metal parts have the blue? But since it all matches so well I guess it's more likely entirely painted. Because robot paradise posted that caution video that said to not be too forceful to risk damaging the paint, and then they gestured to the entire figure. When I first saw mp52 I didn't realise that they grey was all paint, and the same with the red on mp44. Btw, Thanks for the review Paik! It's a lot of fun to watch 🙂

Yet another reason that CONFIRMS why I wasn't interested in MP52 & the +........ he is TOO SMALL/SHORT & his PROPORTIONS look AWFUL in the Comparisons with Soundwave, & Megatron. *Might get a KO as it's a reasonable price Great Review thank you
@Paik4Life3 жыл бұрын
I still really like MP52, but the size does bother me. I think in general though they've been making the figures more slender. MP Megs, Optimus, and Shockwave are less bulky thank most 3P figures like Acoustic Wave. It just seems to be the newer design trend for official MP much less the more cartoony/less-detailed surface designs.

Ask ft when there going to stop copying other designs
@Paik4Life3 жыл бұрын
LOL. It's "borrowing" design elements. I think this is most likely a very old design since it borrows so much from MP-13. Also, I don't have any direct contact with FT, so I wouldn't be able to tell them.
