I grew up with G1 Chromedome and Rewind among my Transformers, Chromie in particular was a favorite of mine at the time. I thought it was strange that Chromedome (and the other Headmasters) was essentially a decapitated robot, but I really enjoyed the "driver" element and that was often a central part of my play with him. When IDW went the direction with him and Rewind, I wasn't quite sure what to think about that at first and it felt a little awkward. But the writing quickly won me over, and their reunion near the end is one of the few times that comic books brought tears to my eye. Today, Titans Returns Chromedome and Rewind have never been apart, and I don't care what Blaster thinks.

Gotta say, in terms of character, I prefer the scholar/scientist from IDW rather than the hot-headed fighter from The Headmasters. Chromedome’s personality from the headmasters his basically the same fiery-tempered fighter-for-justice we’ve seen in a lot of anime, JRPGs, and even other TF shows, it’s a bit too basic. Chromedome’s personality in IDW was much more interesting and tragic, his guilt over changing people’s memories during the war, his relationship with Rewind, it’s a much more compelling character than what Headmasters gave us.

Agree, the real cybertronian being only the head and the body being a vehicle is much better, not only allows them to save energy without having to become Micromasters but allows them to exchange bodies and as long the head survives they won't be killed. They even have the advantages of the comics Headmasters without their disadvantages.

From what I've heard on Werezilla's old retrospective on the Headmasters cartoon, Chromedome was like a crap predecessor to Hot Shot from Transformers Armada. Brash, overconfident, too eager, and unlike Hot Shot, not taking on the lessons that other bots tried to teach him. And I don't like IDW for some of their choices, so I guess I have to go with the G1 cartoon version of Chromedome.

I still don't get romance with transformers. Tbh I don't get gender with them either it should really be that there is no concept of it and you just have a style a format.

In the final 3 part episode the rebirth. Chromedome was one of the characters that was a mystery. They never had him talk much so you didn't get to see much of his personality. The same for Point-blank too.

Chromedome is so iconic. He's a japanese protagonist, he's a mind editing surgeon and he and Rewind are the most iconic gay couple the fandom knows and loves.

IDW did make everything better. IDW has gone down hill with most of the Comicbook industry. Meanwhile, the Manga industry is exploding and making billions. Why? Terrible Politically Correct Characters and other swaps that are not popular at all.

God I love the Japanese transformers universe and I love when people talk about to me the headmaster anime makes much more sense with its concept as a pose to the cybertronian bounded with an organic partner it really doesn’t make any sense especially with the Decepticons or Destrons in Japan. But I can say I like the IDW stuff look I have nothing against Rewind or Chromedome being in a relationship the only problem I have ever had is calling it gay and parading around as this big moment ya to us it’s gay, but lore wise and how the transformers are it’s just a relationship hell rewind or chromedome could have been changed to a fembot or hell both of them could of have been changed to a fembot and we won’t have know if the fact that transformers are genderless is kept more accurately as they are forge by the allspark they have no concept of gender and they just see everyone as cybertronian, but no IDW had to due this and get all preachy. Sorry I’m just not a fan of IDW’s transformers they did Star Saber dirty that ain’t something I can’t forgive.

Cybertronians are not genderless, this is evident with the fact that there are male and female Cybertronians. Also, it’s a big deal for a lot of fans because having gay representation with Transformers by having two male robots be in a relationship with each is huge for fans who wants to see more proper representation of LGBT people in media. Having Rewind be a fembot takes away the significance of why Chromedome and Rewind’s is so special to a lot of fans.

I find it interesting that in Headmasters Chromedome was a bot who left Cybertron "Millions of years ago", but is a "young bot". And he doesn't even have the Ark crew excuse of being offline for 4 million years after crashing.

I still prefer the japanses take on headmaster just makes more intresting turning head master from "davids" into "goliaths" to survive.
