Back in the day, after the death of my grandfather and my parent's divorce, my mother and grandmother took me to the only Toys'R'Us in Germany for my eleventh birthday. Standing in the Transformers aisle, I got to choose whichever one I wanted. I went back and forth between Metroplex and Fortress Maximus for almost half an hour... I had to turn on the lights twice that night to make sure it hadn't been a dream and Metroplex was really standing there. Childhood me still gets goosebumps when grown me sees Metroplex mentioned anywhere.

Titans are an awesome concept that don't really work well with the current approach to how Transformers shows are made. Unless they're someone like Omega Supreme, their character model can't be easily repurposed for other characters, and the sheer size and power of them makes them more difficult to implement effectively in an episodic series as anything other than a reminder that you can find this toy on shelves this holiday season at retailers nationwide (as shown in the War for Cybertron trilogy).

I find it fascinating how in both the Transformers Cybetron series and the fall of Cybertron game, Metroplex defeated Megatron pretty bad, to the point that Megatron had to be reborn, becoming Galvatron in Transformers Cybertron and being revived and rebuilt as Megatron in the fall of Cybertron game.

One of my favorite aspects of Fall of Cybertron was the contrast between Metroplex and Trypticon. Metroplex willing sacrifice himself to ensure the Cybertronian race had a future, and being honored by Optimus Prime, meanwhile Trypticon being forced into become the Decepticon's vessel, all the while being belittled by Megatron.
@kinghyperheart1571
@kinghyperheart1571 Ай бұрын
And on top of that, in the aligned continuity, Metroplex is truly Titan sized towering over the Ark without its launch base, while in keeping in War for Cybertron's continuity, Trypticon is smaller than Metroplex and is more in line with, but stil a few meters than Omega Supreme, who was already barely bigger than a combiner like Bruticus. Plus it really shows in terms of scale and gravitas that where we could interact with Omega Supreme and Trypticon as bosses and objectives, even part of levels, Metroplex IS a level and he's so big and powerful that you can't really play as or fight him, only watch in the background, interacting with certain objects, and calling in either his weapons against Vehicons and marauder tanks, and his fists in the case of the warp cannons and Megatron. That's just how differently they treated Metroplex and Trypticon.

Metroplex was a Christmas present in 1986, and man did I play with him for hours. I always loved him and the episodes he showed up in S3 were some of my favorites from that season. I always found it funny that Autobot City in the movie looks far more like Fortress Maximus' city mode, as well as being referred to AS Fortress Maximus in the Marvel comic adaptation of the movie. It's also ironic to me considering I far prefer Fort Max's Marvel and IDW versions where he's not a titan. I like having Metroplex as the only Autobot titan, it makes him feel more special.

I loved how Metroplex had three separate units that were not only a part of him, but could each function independently. That was the design that I loved, and I did have to buy the Titan Class version when it came out. I was always under the understanding that Fortress Maximus was way bigger then Metroplex.

Remember the character of metroplex really well from the G1 cartoons of the third season. Always really enjoyed when metroplex was at the centre of attention. Then more recently it's been the reissues of the UK Marvel Transformers comics. In that particular story where Rodimus Prime activates Metroplex. To help win the fight against invading Sharktacons. Have never purchased any of the Metroplex Titans. But I say if they were to do one final Titan. Then it should have the look of the G1 figure. With the capability to join together with the Combiners. Like in the original Diaclone line. Would be the perfect way to give the Titan class a great farewell.

I gotta be honest, Cybertron Metroplex might just be my favorite, mostly because of how different he is from all the other iterations.

It's interesting to note how Budiansky's profile of him seems to have at least partially informed his personality in Fall of Cybertron. ***Spoilers***: The first time in that game we see Metroplex make a decision we know specifically is his own - it's him choosing to give up his life so that the other autobots have a chance, however remote, to escape Cybtertron on the ark and maybe make it to the spacebridge/portal thing

Hello there Chris McFeely and fellow Transformers fans. I do apologize for the tardiness of this comment, but I was a bit busy when this video dropped and just recently got the chance to watch it. Anyways, I just wanted to say that this new video was absolutely awesome. I really enjoyed the information that came out of it and learned more about this character that doesn't get used a lot and only has appeared in some types of media, like the 1980's Transformers the Movie, the Japanese episode entitled Scramble City and a few comics. Thanks again for creating and sharing this incredible video with us. Hope that you and everyone else in this community has a great day and wonderful weekend. Until All Are One. Peace Out and Maximize.

This big guy was my dads fave. I owned a toy of him given to me by my cuz. But it was only half of his body so for a long time idk who it was.

That's actually in his instructions - but the combining with Hot Spot and Silverbolt isn't, even though Trypticon's instructions do show how to combine *him* with Motormaster and Onslaught!

Metroplex - Optimus, take whatever spark left within me, use to light your way across the star. Optimus - Metroplex, my friend you don't have to do, there's no guarantee you have enough fuel to get us to the space bridge Metroplex - This is my choice The most heartbroken moment in transformers game 😢
