With my 2 little girls, the super glue/baking soda trick has been one of the most useful things I've learned. Used countless times to cure the tears caused by a broken toy. Thanks, as always!

Wow, great job on this! That finger came out great, with the paint on, I think you'd be very hard pressed to tell it's a repair.

Wow, Gnaw is a great looking figure! I have never owned one, so this was of particular interest to me! As always, your fixes are dynamite! Weird how those bits of plastic were just a little too tight for the hinge area. Maybe some of that was the manufacturing being a little off, combined with the glue and distortion from the previous owner's fixes. Your fixes seem to really make a world of difference though. "The proof is in the pudding," as they say! I can't get over how GOOD that replacement finger turned out! Honestly, with the exception of just the slightest bit of color variation, it looks like a match that wouldn't be noticed even by other collectors familiar with the toy! You did a great job replicating the shape! Thanks for sharing the video with us! It was a real treat!

Baking Powder and Baking Soda *are* different; they aren't just different names for the same thing in different countries. They are using in baking to leaven recipes; baking soda is pure sodium bicarbonate, whereas baking powder also contains an acid, such as cream of tartar, and cornstarch. The chemical reaction which works with superglue works with the bicarb - some people say it is better to use baking soda because the reaction is "pure". Others say that using powder means it has some inert "filler" which bulks it out. Experimentation may determine which is best.

Fantastic job on this repair Dave! Good thinking with the styrene for the broken finger. That worked brilliantly! It may be an odd looking toy but it is from an AWESOME scene in the movie!😎👍

Great work! FYI baking soda and powder are two different things; powder is baking soda plus cornstarch and cream of tartar. I believe you want baking soda for superglue, though powder may also work (but there’s less of the stuff that has the chemical reaction due to the other ingredients in it, so it likely won’t work as well).

Sodium bicarbonate is also useful if you get a blocked ear - dissolve some in warm water and put a few drops in your ear and it will soften up the wax.

I have been working on a Transformers voyager class Whirl the figure was missing it’s head and one of the legs was very loose was lucky to have found a donor one in much worse shape just need to get some of the weapons and fix a loose ball joint on the right arm and it’s good as new

thats definitely a K.O! i have one, it has the same issues, it doesnt transform smoothly, the mold feels cheap, the assembly is poorly built, some parts are not flushed clean and have nub marks, all i did was filing down the plastic, that solved the problem.
@toypolloi Жыл бұрын
You could be right. It does look very knew and I would be amazed if they would let those hinge issues through QC on a real figure.

Another great video as always. That finger came out great. I'm curious, have you recently changed the volume leveling from your voice in relation to your music? For the last few videos I find myself turning the volume down a bit when the songs come on. I then turn it back up for your commentary. It could be just me. Has anyone else noticed the change? Thanks Dave!

This was really informative and answered a lot of my questions when it comes to repairing and possibly doing customs too. Currently I'm going to be making a custom of Shadow Blade Megatron figure that I bought incomplete. Really like the figure and I want to make a new character out of him. Do you have any advice in disassembling figures to do repainting? In particular the Shadow Blade Megatron I want to repaint? Thanks for what you do! Lots of great techniques I'm hoping to use!👍👍🤙

It's not a figure I know. If it's modern I'm not sure how easy it will be to open. These vintage figures are designed to be repaired.

@@toypolloi he's from the Animated series. I forget when the show came out. When I looked him over there weren't many screws in the figure at all so I'm not confident enough to just wing it and take it apart. I want to customize him, not make him any worse than he already is. Thanks for getting back to me and replying 🤙 But I really want to find some kind of instructions on taking him apart. Can you suggest anywhere to look??

never understood why they had the decepticon logo , they are Quintesson made just like the Allicons and for the price of the tail , hotrod said it, they could not hold out forever but they could give them one humongous repair bill😂
