Transformers Zone Dai Atlas VS Devastator

From Transformers Zone. The Battle Betwen Dai Atlas and Devastator. Predaking and King Poseidon are also seen. I think the Japanese were stupid to try and kill off Devastator like this, he survived a fall into lava in the original cartoon so his fate is ambiguous.

When designed like that, both Devastator and King Poseidon look like single robots and not combined forms of smaller robots.

@@josephtarvin8555 actually, towards the end of japanese G1, most transformers that appear on screen and have a segnificant role in the show are the size of the combiners, so it's not that devastator and king poseidon became small, but the brain masters and powered masters and ginrai are very tall compared to regular bots. Edit: ok except trypticon, for some reason, he got shrunk from the size of a titan to that of a combiner.

I think ViolenJiger recteated Devastator as and independent Devastator, not as 6 Constructions. This explains his more meaningful behavior in the OVA, instead of his dim-witted and randomly destructive persona.

Well, Bruticus defeated him by one punch. And, at the age of Zone, even Predaking is kinda outdated, while new Cybertron commanders like Dai Atlas and Star Saber all have huge body size and strength, which enable them to fight against Combiners easily. You know, Dai Atlas kills Predaking by just one hit. At least Devastator manages to trap Dai Atlas for a while by using his wit.

@@Skybaby79 Those are not any main reason. The central problem is: The story is too boring and roughly made. Predaking without a proper face, and all Decpticon combiners in golden armor for upgrade. These settings are either roughly made, or old-fashioned. Dai Atlas and Sonic bomber are the only two characters that feel a bit better than others. But of course, if the main protagonists are not designed a bit better than others, then nobody will buy the story at all. However, this still does not change the fact it is a lame story too carelessly made.

The Manga was a series of story pages printed in 1990 that told the full story of "Transformers: Zone". You can find those pages at the Transformers Archive, under the comics section. The Japanese BW series follows the same events in the US series. BWII takes place almost concurrently with BW, but it's the far future of Earth. Optimus Primal makes an appearance in an animated film, right before the end of season one of the American series and teams with Lio Convoy. BWN takes place after BWII.

The only reason the Decepticons survived in "Heavy Metal War" was to sell toys. Same with any Transformer who was shot up badly in the show, but were killed in the movie. "Zone" is several years removed and Takara was not promoting the Demon Generals, they were promoting the Powered Masters. Hence Dai Atlas isn't killed by the lava like Devastator. The live action films and "Transformers Prime" are the only exceptions to this rule. Hence the deaths of Jazz, Breakdown and Cliffjumper.

Transformers is a merchandise-driven franchise so of course it was solely due Hasbro/Takara wanting to sell more toys. But my point still stands, Transformers can survive lava. Besides, this was a one episode ova, the Demon Generals could've rose again had Zone continued.

The Transformers of BWII and BWN both arrived back on Cybertron just prior to the start of "Beast Machines". And the connection to G1 wasn't because of ratings. The fans interacted with the show runners and they helped to provide all kinds of information.

BWII/Neo does not discount BW/BM, in BW the maximals time travvled to prehistoric Earth from the the future. The future is where BWII/Neo is set. BM is set after Neo. The maximals in BW come back to their time and planet.

Not quite true as you see a number of robots being killed by lava in the movie, inside Unicron. Bumblebee, Cliffjumper and Jazz would have been killed. As it is, the Manga trumps the animated feature, since none of the Demon Generals were killed. Which is how the Decepticon Predacons became the basis for Beast Predacons in "Beast Wars", "Beast Wars II", "Beast Wars Neo" and "Beast Machines".

The lava you mention inside Unicron is an acid pit, that's his stomach. Anyway, you lost me at "the manga trumps the animated feature," what manga? As far as I know there is no connection between the Japanese series and American Beast Wars/Beast Machines, as Beast Wars II completely ignores both American Beast Wars and Beast Machines. The original BWT was supposed to be a new take on the TF, but the ratings weren't that great, so the studio connected BW with G1.
