Incredible video! Clear. Factual. Useful. Allows you to instantly apply concepts on your work bench. So much CRAPPY university prof material out today to wade through...

these videos were made when America was at its best. Videos like this will never be made again.

Sounds like he is from Houston, TX .....then did some speech training.... Glad I did my electronics tech training in the Military, USMC first before going to college for engineering, this gave me the solid fundamentals... Most of the professors at University suck at teaching....they do not start out with any conceptual teaching....They jump into Maxwell's equations on the first day..Many students drop along the way...It's not until after you graduate that you have time to think things through....

plus i've heard that the Maxwell's equations are not allways working.

That is a great video. I really like the Tech Sergeants cowboy voice! I remember going through BEE-Basic Electricity and Electronics in Great Lakes before A-School and they had all kinds of videos like this.

I have been working on this stuff for years, taken classes and read books and these videos are some of the best things I have come across. I wish I just watched these first and save myself tons of time. It's crazy they are from so long ago and they are so much better than what's out there now and even stuff you have to pay for and sit through a class on.

exactly i have noticed the same thing! And I am not from USA so proably it is the whole-world trend now !

I couldn't agree more. Showing the variable letters increase/decrease in size to balance the power equation is sooo informative. That has helped me so much imagining number relations when there is no pen and paper. Awesome teachers back in the day!

Very true. I don't understand why this kind of videos were not on my feed much earlier. This channel is doing great work.

Probably a reason for that.

Transformers! Robots in disguise!
@amramjose11 жыл бұрын
Note this uses "electron flow" current direction. Not bad however in engineering/physics it is all explained using "conventional current flow" or charges moving from the + terminal to the - terminal of the battery. It actually makes circuits easier to analyse and design.
@nakayle9 жыл бұрын
Actually you CAN use a 50-Hz transformer on a 60-hz but a 60-hz transformer will over-heat on 50-Hz. 50-Hz requires more core iron than 60-hz transformers have.

This was to train people working as engineers... either in a military sense (Seabees for naval logistics) or a civilian sense (Army Corps of Engineers).

I thought the mnemonic was "right-hand rule" and the field vector would be in the opposite direction? Did they mean non-conventional (ie electrons' flow) direction perhaps?

yes, cylces per second is the frequency which is measured in Hertz

LOL I like how they use cycles per second (cps) instead of Hz, and P=IE instead of Watts=Volts*Amps. I''ve never seen that before.
@Ornithopter47024 күн бұрын
They still do that. P=IE is great. Power is as easy as pie.

American English generally speaking, was not as fast or choppy, and people spoke more exactly and used less slang. It was even clearer back in the 30s and 40s.

Did you live in the 1960s? Please tell me if you know; what was it about people talking this way? Was it a trained way of speaking or did everyone just tend to speak like this? I would call it an elegant way of speaking, like neat cursive handwriting. Why has it gone away?

This is what they use to teach. In the US by time we come out of high school pretty much all we know is how to wipe or own ass and make a complete sentence. The type of knowledge we need to know to function in the real world is almost nonexistent. It is really just disgraceful.
