Gas can't escape before the metal solidifies. Heating the mold is helpful.

Thank you very much for your answer - Yes, I warmed up the mold a little beforehand - but probably not enough. Have a nice day

How did you learn to start making jewlery? Im very interested in making rings, cuffs, and things of that nature, and im super interested in getting started.
@my-projects Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your interest. 🙂I started by watching a lot of different how-to youtube videos from some of the big channels. In this way I got to know how, for example, simple jewelry is made. I started by making some easy and simple jewelery with waste metal - typically copper which is a cheap jewelery metal. But make sure you start with an easy piece of jewelry - e.g. a braided copper ring with 3-5 wires. You will be impressed by how skilled you are when you immerse yourself ☺

When molten copper is poured into a cold crucible, due to the temperature difference, spheres are formed on the ingot

Yes, you are absolutely right.

The voids could be caused by gasses formed from the surface oxides and impurities. A little flux and skimming might help reduce this. Definitely, a heated mold will help.

@@stevenwillis548 Thank you very much for your answers, which I will try next time. Otherwise, I think I had warmed up the mold well beforehand - but probably not enough. Many thanks again
