Hmm .. Jackery .. or Anker Solix. Love the result anyway!
@scarletandseth2 ай бұрын
Both are honestly great! The Jackery is a bit cheaper and I think the solar panel setup on the Jackery works really well. We’ve consistantly seen 180-195 watts with it and actually use it to charge the unit. The Anker solix has a slightly higher 120V output at 1800W. But costs about 200-250 more for a similar amount of power.

Hello again. It looks like you used different insulation from the other van. Will this type of insulation hold up better in hotter/colder temperature extremes than the other?
@scarletandseth2 ай бұрын
Same insulation! We usually do a double layer of thinsulate followed by a layer of Low-E reflective barrier both from van life outfitters. We forgot to do it on the ceiling when we first installed it and got a clip but took the panels down the next day to do it.
@dylancastellanos87Ай бұрын
So what do you guys do with your old vans? Do you sell them? Or do you just dismantle everything inside and rebuild a new liveable space over?
@scarletandsethАй бұрын
We sold all of the vans we built with the exception of our promaster that we live in full time. We bought louis and did a simple build in 2019 that had a lot of issues. While we had our shop location we ended up turning him into a work truck for a couple years and mostly stripped that build out. We always had this van though and it was already empty and ready for a build when our promaster broke down. We don’t intend to sell this one!
@dylancastellanos87Ай бұрын
Thanks for the response. I've asked this same question to a few other van lifers, and you guys are the first ones who have actually answered. I do want to ask, do you guys have any tips and longer videos for first time van lifers looking to build a functional, livable space similar to what you two have, but on a budget?
@scarletandsethАй бұрын
We are in the process of putting together a video about this build that’ll be 45 minutes long or so. This is a fairly budget build as well so that may be helpful! It’ll be out in 2-3 weeks after we post the tour of this van!
@dylancastellanos87Ай бұрын
Thanks for the heads up. I'm looking forward to the video. You guys are actually my inspiration for wanting to give van life a try. Thank you so much for your content and your transparency into what life in a van is really like. I appreciate that y'all don't try to just glamorous it and make it seem as though every aspect is perfect.
@edgeofnothing67Ай бұрын
@@dylancastellanos87 most of the budget materials wise for a van build is the systems. Electrical systems are easily 5-10k and if you go 5k you will be watching your power consumption. Want ac? 2-3k and the power budget just went up massively. Windows? Skylights? 500-800 each. So get a van with windows or minimalist them. Those are your budget issues for materials going into a van. Everything else isn't that bank breaking. I am 4 weeks from finishing mine and I spent 22k so far and I don't need anything else. My power system (ecoflow) was 7k with solar My Ac/heater was 2500 My isothermal water heater was 2k with install kit I got a guzzler water purifier 700 I even got the van tek sink and shower for 1k 5 windows/skylight was 3k
