When Staci Green's mother was killed by a speeding driver in 2020, Staci was filled with grief, and rage; she wanted the driver, a woman named Nikia Cherry, to pay dearly for her crime. That rage pulled Staci into a depression she wasn't sure she'd ever escape, until she was inspired to take a different approach. Correspondent Steve Hartman reports on a remarkable story of forgiveness and compassion.

There have been moments in our lives, where we often grieve over things that we’ve done or said in the past, that often slowed us down, in how we’re living. It’s normal to feel hurt over those memories, but only let the pain feel temporary, rather than permanent. Those moments we experience, and then learn from, are what help builds us up, as humans. We’re not human, if we don’t have the power to feel, to grieve or mourn over, or even forgive those that need it.

The most remarkable story of grace I have read was surrounding the gunman who entered an Amish school several years ago and killed several children before killing himself. After burying their children the parents then proceeded to attend the burial of the gunman and told his widow they forgave him because God would expect no less.

This is what love looks like...this is Christianity...this what Christ teaches... forgiveness...if not the anger consumes you...and you will be in your own hell for eternity.

In 2023, an estimated 6.3 million children under five died, 2.9 million of them in the WHO African Region. This is equivalent to five children under 5 years of age dying every minute. Two thirds of these deaths can be attributed to preventable causes. A third of all these deaths are in the neonatal period. 0:14
