In this video I transform the messy cupboard that I have been putting off for WAY too long, and over a series of days, turn it into a space that brings me comfort and joy! And I hope you enjoy watching the process as much as I enjoyed making the video ❤️

I'm a 14 year old girl in the USA, yet I clicked this video probably as soon as it was posted and haven't watched it until today... this video was just supposed to calm me down while I ate lunch, but I instantly realized how great my life is. I have my mother and grandfather living with me, many friends, the necessities (food, shelter, water), and my loving pets. I've suffered from hundreds of panic attacks and anxiety issues, and every time I have one, I hear that little voice in my mind saying that I'm all alone in my struggles. I'm on the verge of crying because of this video. It showed me that even chaos can become something to be proud of and that I am not alone even if its not exactly like me, there's someone out there that struggles with similar issues. I'm sorry for rambling a bit. All you really need to know is that this was just supposed to be a fun video to watch while I eat, but it has made my day better, and probably will continue to make my days better for a long time. Thank you.

I’m a 72 yo woman from the US and this is a remarkable video! I am so glad you found it so young!!!!! Go out there and be amazing! One grateful little baby step at a time! I I love to journal & I have a disability so I can only journal a word each day to help me focus …sometimes I get overwhelmed & that’s my opportunity to be kind to myself & start over with NO shame…. This vid truly makes me remember & be super grateful!!!

The amazing thing that I don't know if you know... You actively clean, declutter, and beautify the environment around you and the ones you love but, you also do the exact same for us. You clean out the self doubts, the anxieties, the self dislike over our shortcomings related to what we had always been told are mental or physical faults. You declutter the stress, the mental or emotional exhaustion when we want to start doing better but we don't know where to really start. You beautify how we see ourselves and how we choose to go forward handling things around us and the environment our beloved families grow in 💙

"I am a gross old toad" had me dying. Remi you are a wonderful mum, amazing content creator and listening to you is super soothing, your words hit and I love that even with the most daunting of messes that we all have in our houses, you find a way to simplify and get through it, not rushing to get it all done in one day, normalising that things take time and you don't have to be spending all of your time in one area of your life to make things work. I don't know if you realise just how relatable you are, even for me as a clean freak, I still get overwhelmed by the upcoming tasks and I still have that one cupboard that is my hideaway of junk.

Love, I purged for an entire week. I realized that my grandmother whom I grew up with in my younger years and how she had put on me her obsession with keeping things because she lived through the Great Depression. I decided it’s time to let things go. I started with apartment closets in bedrooms and deep cleaning them then moved onto the next room. I started on Sunday and dropped off the final donations on Saturday. I gave away 24 bags of everything from crafting supplies to clothes. I decided to make decisions and let go. Now I’m working on keeping a clean house one room a day so that I don’t feel exhausted by doing the entire apartment at once. Cleaning up little bits has been a blessing for me and you. You can do it. Everyday is a battle to clean and reclaim your space will help your mental energy to strengthen.

Oh, Remi…you are just a gem!!! I have absolutely reverted back to my happy, precious childhood. Little treats for myself tend to make my whole day. Cleaning and decluttering at least one shelf, one cabinet, one drawer…anything…is so rewarding to me. I absolutely LOVED to color as a child and now I have sets of colored pencils and coloring books for adults and it makes me so calm and so happy to color. I crochet. I read. I nap. All of these things would be so much fun in your little cupboard! You are priceless!

Why do fairy lights make everything look so much better? I totally loved the idea of making a board with pictures of what you are grateful for and choosing a different word to focus on each day. I think I’m going to make one myself so thank you for the idea! Finally, your list of things to be grateful for: your parents still being alive, running water, having food and so much more, made me tear up. It made me realize how many simple and yet absolutely essential things I have to be grateful for. Just to be alive on this spinning blue planet out in space is a gift so thank you, just for being you. YOU and these videos are an act of service for this world. Thank you.❤

Finally, Remi, I think you should print out those absolutely precious photos of your boys each wearing the hat and hang them along with the tweed cap in one of those recessed frames they sell at craft stories. That way that little hat can be preserved and showcased (hey, and maybe your future grandkids can be photographed wearing it as well) for the future. P.P.S. You stated that certain things go into the attic, have you thought of doing a video on purging the attic too?
@remiclog
@remiclog 4 ай бұрын
That is such a fantastic idea!! Wow!! Thank you 🥰 as for the attic, it’s not stable, aside from a few plywood boards, if we stepped up there we’d fall through the ceiling! All that is up there (balancing on the boards) are Christmas and Halloween decorations and a few airtight bags with some of my favourite baby clothes, and some clothes that are hand me downs from Rudy that Ike doesn’t fit into yet.

Oh Remi, you inspire me. My cupboard of doom is three times the mess, and it's all paperwork, photographs, precious letters, old university files, artwork, AND complete rubbish, all mixed up . And every single piece of paper has to be read and discarded or kept. For over twenty years I keep opening the door and closing it again. Your suggestion to break it down into small goals is the way to go. I'll start with clutter first too but for me it will be one shelf at a time. I am actually going to give myself three months to do it as I am disabled. My goal is to have it done by the end of summer [31st August]2024. There, I've said it out loud! But three months is not long to clear a lifetime of words.... Thanks Remi.

@@KiraNoSan Hi Kira before you declutter your clothing turn your hangers backwards. As you wear an item turn the hanger. Pick a length of time, say 3 or 4 months. Remove the items that the hangers are still backwards and are out of season. Put the clothes in a box or plastic bin with an expiration date. You can always take out an item but whatever is in the bin/box at the expiration date gets donated. Just an idea. Good luck with your decluttering.

The last thing I look for is a channel with an already perfect house with a pretend mess or clutter. I want the real life of people who are trying every day to make things better for themselves and for others. I enjoy decluttering and particularly, organizing. Cleaning, not as much, but it gets done eventually. This cupboard looks fantastic and very cute idea. Everyone needs their own space, big or small, just for a moment or two to collect ones thoughts or just enjoy a little peace. I also deal with health anxiety, have for years. It's currently under control. Here are some things that can help: - therapy! I know it's not affordable for everyone, but if you can get it, this is worth talking to someone about. - validating the feeling without validating the wrong thought. You probably already do that with your kids! If they're scared of the dark, you might say "I understand that, I used to get scared too! But I know now that everything is safe. Let's check together!" You can do the same thing for health anxiety. When I started saying to my brain "yeah, if we were having X condition, that *would* be bad, I agree. I checked though and it's all okay" it really helped me. It's like the fear doesn't have to be as loud if it knows I'm also paying attention. - sometimes I'd have anxious feelings first and then the thoughts would come after. In those situations, I'd cycle through illnesses. "Well if I don't have A, I might have B!". When that's happening, I need to calm my body down, not argue with my thoughts. So I try to figure out if something triggered this episode (and if so, remove the trigger) and then I do something calming like playing music, crafting or going for a walk. Think of your body like an overtired toddler that's just saying random things so it doesn't have to go to bed yet. It's saying one thing ("we need to see the doctor") but it needs another thing (rest, less exposure to triggers, more connection with people...). And you are a strong mom who can notice those warning signs and do what's actually right for your body, rather than what it thinks it needs. I know this is all related to health anxiety about myself because I don't have kids, but maybe these strategies will help you too ❤ mental health is emotional health, too, not just about what thoughts we think. You've got this!

I enjoyed this so much! The transformation of the cupboard was wonderful but the real treasure is you and what you have to say....-- Wanted to share with you that people who have had trauma (including extreme displacement like sudden location changes, people dying unexpectedly, stormy divorce, abuse and/or neglect) prior to age 20 often have free-floating anxiety about the stability of happy living (good partner, healthy children, reasonable financial security, etc.) as adults. The earlier the trauma- the younger the individual is when it happens- the more likely this is and the more severe it can be. There are so many people out there who experience this and don't know what is happening, especially if their current situation seems long-term and positive. They ask such things as 'Why do I worry NOW?'. This is due to a deep-seated fear of the changes that the person has already gone through which can teach that life in general is not safe or predictable. I don't know if this is a part of your life history but I felt strongly the need to share as it is part of mine. Helpful and specific counseling was instrumental in my changing to a more positive outlook and minimizing (not eliminating but it's better!) the anxiety which was all too prevalent in my emotional life. Please use if you want...-- You inspire me- thank you so much.🤩

When I was young girl we had a small cupboard in the kitchen mum never used , I remember she painted inside of it and set up a place where I would play with my Barbie dolls , furniture and lot . The moment I pressed play, I found your voice to be calming. However, half way through the video, I realized I hadn't heard a word you said. It wasn't until you began speaking about being grateful and appreciating the little things that I started to hear you. You see, for the first time in my life, I am renting an apartment I haven't seen before moving in. Not necessarily the smartest thing, but things happened so quickly and smoothly, I am convinced it is meant to be. I started to worry about the kitchen being too small, not enough closet space, the color of the rug, etc. Then I heard you. Then it sunk in. I am getting my own place that I can afford, in a beautiful neighborhood,where I can take my cat, and run around naked with my hair on fire if I so choose, without bothering anyone else. Thank you for reminding me that the little details aren't always the most important thing. Being grateful for a new beginning, and not sabotaging this new adventure, is what my mindset should be. And it will be. Thank you so much for the slap of gratitude that I needed. I am so glad I found you.

Hi Remi, this was so comforting, right at this moment. I, like yourself suffer with anxiety, although mine is a social anxiety, to do with going out alone or mixing with others. I also tend to want to do all or nothing, I don’t seem to have a happy medium and always feel that I should do more. I also find it very difficult to part with things just in case I’ll need them one day and never get round to using them. This is due to having so little as a child and never being accepted by other children because of how I looked etc. I’m now nearly 70, and still have these problems, however just to say that you make me feel so much better and think differently. I tackle many more jobs that used to terrify me and I’m so happy that there is such an awareness in the younger generation about mindfulness and anxiety, hopefully one day it won’t ruin any other lives. Sorry to ramble on, just trying to say thankyou for making me feel more normal and strong. Take care and keep up the good work 🥰🥰🥰

I am 72 yrs of age, and since I was about 69, I started to leave messes wherever I go. Too much stuff, too much craft and art supplies, too much of keepsakes and mementos etc. I now live in a small apartment of only 800 sq. ft. and it is bulging at the seams! Your vids are so important to me and your understanding of yourself is awesome. I always learn and take away a word of wisdom from your vids. You are doing excellent, young lady, and I thank you so much for your inspiration. Luv to you and family, MO from Vancouver Island, BC Canada

I just watched your kitchen clean up video and I watched this one next. I am in the US up in the middle of the night with my heart beating weirdly - it's a thing I have, tons of tests, no danger, but very annoying - and I feel like you are speaking words that are in my own mind. I think and feel so many of the same things about life and the philosophy of it all. I just cleaned my bedroom after not cleaning and tidying since the worldwide lockdown. It was a hot mess, let me tell you, but now I sleep better. and I am no longer afraid of anyone seeing it. It brings me satisfaction instead of dread. I have many other areas of my house that I need to do this with. Some boxes that I never unpacked after moving in 20 years ago. Definitely sentimental. I enjoy your videos so very much, especially your running dialog. I'm sorry you are having anxiety about your boys' health, and I hope this decluttering and tidying process can help calm your mind a bit. Bless you.

I’ve tackled a few very full closets in my time and the easiest way to start is to take everything out first! You do need to decide how you want to use the space, then decide what you need or want, get rid of what you don’t, then organize it! I was always amazed at how much stuff could be in there! You are doing great!

Thank you for making your life real for us. My life could not be more different from yours. I am a retired computer teacher who lives in New Mexico US. I have all day to clean and only my husband to see after. I have trained myself and him to tidy as we go! So messes rarely happen. But I still need to declutter and keep up with cleaning a house. Heavy sigh. I love how you love your family ❤❤ and how you still work and keep your house up! I watch your videos and learn a lot. Anyway, thank you. Today I cleaned out my utensil drawer in the kitchen. It was a disaster. Looks great now. ❤❤❤❤❤

I love watching you do this kind of thing Remi. I have been decluttering since lockdown. I decided that I was not going to leave my kids the huge task of emptying a house of all my stuff after I'm gone. This is what happened to me. My parents were wonderful and definitely not haorders - but they did keep things for sentimental and 'just in case' reasons. It took me over a year to empty their home...mine should be much easier...

Omg take a bow 🙇‍♀️ that is a beautiful space that you have. I love the cards you made. I try to be grateful every day. Covid made me realise how lucky we are to live out in countryside, have our house, food, heating, car, work, when so many others are in small apartments or worse homeless in a hotel room. Thanks for the reminder of all we do have. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇‍♀️👏💪👍🙏💐

Today, I was feeling some of the things you talked about in this video. I need to make an important phone call, and I'm struggling to get it done. I feel overwhelmed and crippling anxiety over it. I feel silly, but this has brought me to tears. I was diagnosed with treatment resistant depression years ago. To the point I had to quit my job or get fired. This was devastating to me! I was on disability for 5 years, but I'm back in the workforce to the best of my ability. I'm proud of that. I struggle every single day to make there, get myself out the door, but I'm winning that fight every time I do. So, yeah, I can relate to many, many things you talk about in these videos. So, thank you for the time and effort that you put into these videos. ❤ Hugs from Jen in Wisconsin,USA

One of the most empowering things I’ve gotten as cleaning advice is just the idea that making a mess isn’t bad…we make messes while doing a craft with our children, cooking a meal for your best friend, giving our pet a bath…those things are good, and the messes they make are good too…and then we clean them up so we can make new messes in the future ❤

You and I are in the same "season"... Although I'm a 45 single mom to a 20 yr old daughter and a 12 year old son. Everything from the smells to romanticism in our daily lives. I wasnt always depressed and anxious and overwhelmed. I was a house cleaner. I love cleaning. But in the paat 4 years I've lost 4 very important people to me. Not to mention a son and a sister when I was 18. These days I deal with it all and listening to you and watching you has been so enjoyable. It's like I'm listening to a friend. Someone I can relate to on almost every level. Thank you so much!

I like your attitude and outlook and how real you are and your home is real and projects you do aren't always perfectly aesthetic and curated immaculately but they are big improvements and progress and it's so tempting to want everything done and perfect now it's a good reminder that anything better, any niche carved out, anything freshly wiped or with a little paint can be joyful and useful again. So thanks x
