Transforming Stock Wheels - 3rd Gen 4Runner Part 4

The title says it all, we are transforming old stock wheels with a "professional" 2 part spray paint made by SprayMax. These highly change the look on my 3rd Gen Toyota 4runner. Thanks for watching!

I did my same wheels last Summer. Wheels came off an FJ90 all 5, being in the UK it can take a while due to lower air temp and lack of sunshine..but Im very pleased with the result. Good Vid

@@mattuccibuilt3970 mine are stock wheels that were painted by the previous owner but they need redoing. It’s all in the prep work to make them last it seems.

@@WoodcockFamilyOverland Yeah I've heard that sanding and cleaning of anything that may dislodge itself under the paint will make just about any paint do well. I was slightly lazy with my sanding, so hopefully they withstand, and if not I will probably go with powder coating or aftermarket wheels.

Yeah, I will update in the future on how they're doing but so far, with a few months of salt and dirt and multiple cleanings they are still doing great. If I did it again I may put adhesion promoter on the center caps or similar because an impact gun can take the paint off when taking the lug nuts off pretty easily, but that's pretty common on all wheels.

Thanks for the compliment, I got the bf Goodrich KO2's about have way through the video. They're one of the oldest style of all terrains and are tested heavily. A lot of people like them and I've highly enjoyed them so far. Size is 265/75r16.

What size exactly and brand are those tires? I like that they're not too big or wide

They're BF Goodrich ko2's in 265/75 r16

Compared to the stock tires what size are these? Did you need a lift to get them on comfortably?

I believe the stock size is 265/65r16 which is a just under 30" and that was what was on mine. Also, I don't have personal experience, but I've read that what I put on there, 265/75r16 which is about a 32", is the largest you can go without a lift and not have rubbing unless the vehicle is really articulating or has excess weight.

They're doing great against dirt, salt, and multiple cleanings so far, I will do an update in the future. Although I would do an adhesion promoter on the center caps because an impact will take a little bit of the finish off, but almost all paints react that way. I don't have any videos on the grill, but it was a really simple cleaning, a few coats of black PlastiDip, and a few coats of gloss PlastiDip. Really simple and I can peel it off if I don't like it.

I painted my 2002 4Runner wheels with a Rustoleum wheel paint in a Black Chrome color came out more like a graphite grey and hit it with a 1k clear coat with pearl flakes

Check out Part 1 the headlights are custom. As for the corner lights, you can follow what I did in the video, someone said you can put yours in a bucket of purple power without the bulb in and it will take out the chrome, or buy them blacked out (ebay).
