That bit with "There are two kinds of wounds: there's the wound that makes you think you're less than others and there's the wound that makes you think your better than others" extremely insightful.

A good way to find "wounds" that you're not even conscious of, is to be aware of when you become reactive - where you get reactive there's a wound.

Interesting interview between 2 people who use manipulation to control others. Early in the interview Neil tells Tom that he uses aggressive words. Tom does not like this. Tension starts right there. 25:46… Tension slowly builds here... Neil begins to lose patience with Tom so he takes over the interview. All those years of manipulating women and he negs Tom, and its the moment Tom realizes what just happened. He gets pissed, then disagrees with Neils assessment of his weaknesses. LOTS of tension right there. Neil realizes this and backs off a bit… Then Toms last question is about how to control the people who work for him. Neil responds that you cannot change people and trying to do so will create resentment. Tom ends the interview frustrated that he cannot control Neil or the interview in general. Quite an insightful moment into Toms psyche. Lastly, when Tom says his world revolves around his wife, Neil bites his tongue… moments later Neil gently tells Tom in a very non direct way that building your life around anyone or thing outside yourself is a bad place to be. One last note: I do enjoy Toms interviews for the most part but his phrasing drives me nuts at times. At the end of his sentences, his voice goes up… a very Cali thing.

You don’t need to read his entire Wikipedia page as an intro, leave something for the guest to say. Now you’re talking even more? It’s nice that Neil brought you on his show.

It's interesting to me, to read some people's negative take on this interview and on Tom's intro. Of course everyone has the right to their own valid (for them) take on it, but what I saw was a truly epic interplay of minds and spirits - Tom's and Neil's - doing this exploration and exposure of each other for our benefit and their own.... And for me, Tom's introduction was not too long or any sort of inadequacy. While perfection is often a sort of nebulous thing that no one really reaches (aka "no one is perfect"), if anyone is aware of what it takes in personal effort and training to be able to give someone such a detailed, honorific, and reflective intro like Tom did here, they'd know that that was some seriously noteworthy shit.... I LOVE how these two men's minds got into a sort of Tai Ji 'Push Hands' energetic interplay, and did not feel either of them invalidating the other. My only bummer about this interview, is that of time.... I feel like there was so much unfolding, more time should have been allotted to allow for that to happen. It would be fabulous if an allowance for a potentially longer show happened from now on (now being with Tom's 2019 Impact Theory show), rather than having to cut things off as they're just getting super juicy. -And also, NO ONE interviews like Tom. I have no pedestal to put the guy on, however as a lover of journalism and interview-style content in an array of fields/focuses, I must give credit where it's properly due: Tom is one of the top interviewers that I have ever seen -by far. As an example, his unique style of questioning leads to guests often saying "Oh wow, I've never been asked that", and/or them wanting to and being willing to dive into a much deeper-than-surface conversation with him. So.... thanks again Tom, for a groundbreaking show and all of the beautiful effort it takes to have made Inside Quest, and now Impact Theory. I sooooooo look forward to more.

I wholeheartedly agree; Tom's the best interviewer I've ever watched. I do have to say that this is the only interview of Tom's that I've watched where he was caught off guard several times. I think that this is a wonderful thing rather than a negative thing. Tom's always looking for ways to grow, and, therefore, I'm sure that he really appreciated what came out of this interview.

As of tom’s intro about neil… i have to say that neil worked hard and learnt and overcame the fear. Clearly he changed himself and used all those stuff for making a pathway form himself still being grounded.. so that intro is what neil always deserve..

He likely has overemphasized childhood. Some psychologists now say that adolescence is just a formative.

Snackay the four key periods of growth and human development: infancy (birth to 2 years old), early childhood (3 to 8 years old), middle childhood (9 to 11 years old), and adolescence (12 to 18 years old). Adolescence is late childhood, right before entering adulthood.

I’m not so sure about that. My mother was cold, distant, moody, and suffered from hormonal changes and things like OCD. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized my attraction for cold distant women and unavailable women relate to my childhood. When someone deeply loves me it makes me uncomfortable. I’m working my way through this as I type this.
