I'm going to get a hoLEP in weeks from now. Holep is considered a one and done procedure and that's why I'm going with it. Happy that my VA hospital in Las Vegas is able to do it. I would look at hoLEP also for BPH. Northwest medical center has a lot of great videos on the hoLEP procedure.

Your example, it looks like the tool is during a 180 sweep as it follows the settings program. Do you have to make a 2nd sweep for the opposite 180 portion of the prostate?

Hi Mr. Mark- we spoke with Dr. Parker and here is his response. “Great question. The majority of obstruction comes from the lateral lobes, and potentially a median lobe at the 6 o’clock position. The treatment zone is actually a little bit greater than 180° and goes from about the 2 o’clock to 10 o’clock position. Important vessels are at the 12 o’clock position so this area is typically not treated with any BPH surgery.”

I got aquablation procedure but I was asleep for over 2 hours. I assume it was to stop any bleeding. Ten days out, it’s still painful to urinate. My prostate size was 170 gram . Do larger prostrates take longer to recover? Thanks

Hello - thank you for your questions. We reached out to Dr. Parker and his response is below. "Yes, the increased operative time is likely due to having a larger prostate, as well as potentially bleeding during the case. The healing process varies for everyone, but can be anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks." Alexander Parker, M.D. Urology Clinics of North Texas ________________________________________

BPH with a large Median Lobe, is Aquablation a possibility? Reason for asking, I've researched several procedures and several, not for Median Lobe.

Hi and thank you for your question. We checked with Dr. Parker and his response is below. "Yes, a median lobe is typically a treatable portion of the procedure. Happy to consult further with a visit in the office." - Dr. Alex Parker

what is risk of losing sexual function?

Thanks for your question. The clinical data shows low rates of irreversible complications across prostates of all shapes and sizes. You can read more about this at www.procept-biorobotics.com/clinical-data-aquablation/

I can’t believe we’re in 2024 and still can’t figure out a better way to treat this.
