She’s the transgender woman demanding an apology and £2,500 in compensation, after claiming a rail company misgendered her on two separate occasions. Katie Yeomans - who underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2017 - claims that two staff members left her feeling devastated after wrongly referring to her as sir. And despite Southern Rail vehemently denying her version of events, Katie joins us to argue why more needs to be done for transgender equality.

i apologise for the length of my comment. Isn't it time to notice that it is above all people in service, waiters and transport workers etc who are being targeted for this sort of ' crime ?' I was brought up to believe that talking about people in the third person in their presence was rude and so I would refer to everyone as ' you'. I believe this is still the case in social circles. The only people who are obliged to identify people as sir or madam are people in some sort of service role. This is a dreadful class distinction and it's time to call it out.
