Thanks for the video! Little piece of advise after owning a Defender in Russia for over 10 years: when you do the cold start, push the clutch pedal. Makes it slightly easier for the starter to rotate. Also once the engine is started you can put the transfer case in the neutral and put the gearbox in like 3rd-5th gear. This will warm the engine slightly quicker and what’s more important it will warm up the oil in the gearbox, giving you smoother shifts. Works for me at -20-35. Thanks!

I had my first Land Rover L88 (now it is called defender) in 1974 when I lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado USA. We did all kinds of driving in the mountains. I use 100% Amsoil synthetic oil. it goes solid at -65F below zero and it flashes at 418F degrees. I use for the engine, differentials, gearbox and transfer case. The best part is that I change the oil every 25,000 miles or 40.000 Km. I keep my 2009 Range Rover Sport running like new. Too bad the new "defender" is not a real defender, it is just a car with a defender logo. My first experience with Land Rover was in 1966, in Northern Argentina and in Bolivia in 1968. I will wait for the new Grenadier, I hope it is like the real Defender.

Cold starting. Push the clutch in while cranking. This way the starter is not having to deal with the thick gear oil as well. Also push the throttle half way down. :)

Snapped a key today too! LR keys especially Defenders are usually weak! If they bend in the door/latch they will snap in the ignition barrel guaranteed , but you’ve had that experience too! Glad you made it! Well done!
