"It really is true what they say that 'college just ends one random afternoon and you don't realize that it's happening.' It's just this slow fizzling out and then suddenly, you're done." -- Sounds like the first line in a dark academia story told from the perspective of a teacher's assistant or a librarian at the circulation desk. Congratulations on finishing your thesis and getting that Master's of Science!

Trash reading is the best, I’m reading one called “Fantasy Lover” and this spartan man trapped in a book for thousands of years and the only thing he comes out for is to please women, HILARIOUS. It’s so bad but that’s what makes it so good

Hello, my name is Ben Dassut and I’m a writer. I have a few audiobooks online and have self-published a few books, too. I also write screenplays and have a few short films on KZbin, which I directed. I was hoping that I would be able to send you a few links to my stuff, and if you think it’s good, I’d love it if you wouldn’t mind giving me a shout out. I write every day. I even quit my full-time job to do this, so sorry if I’m being forward. I just really want the world to see my works. Kind regards, Ben Dassut

Jane Eyre is a bit more accessible than Wuthering Heights IMO. Wuthering Heights starts off really, really slow, but then picks up and is heartbreaking and an excellent portrait of toxic love. Jane Eyre has more spooky/gothic vibes and has a bit of a slower part towards the end, but is really worth it and it really digs deep into Jane's psychology, thoughts and struggles. Both are really excellent books.

I finished "I'm Glad My Mom Died" last night and I think this is the most disturbing thing I've ever listened to/ read, mainly because it's real trauma, that happened to a real person. I don't want to say I pity her because of her struggles, 'cause it's not something nice to say, but I do hope for a positive future and I wish her good mental health.

I just finished a book, I don't know if there's a translated version but in German it's die Lügendiebin ("the lie-thief") by Saskia Louis. I thought it would be too much YA vibe but I really loved it. It has the fake dating trope, enemies to friends / lovers, morally grey female main character, badass girl, criminal underdogs and what's the best thing; the characters are sarcastic, which I love. The side-characters annoyed me a bit and the story doesn't feel rounded but besides from that I really loved it

Also, I love that you kept the water pot moment in. 😀 Very relatable 15:42 I think you wrote "Museup", maybe? Congrats on finishing your thesis! I'm in a same boat, finished the master's and I'm trying to take a break to study for an (unrelated) exam, but also trying to search for jobs... but also wishing I could just relax for a few months. It's a struggle. The Secret History! That's one I started but haven't yet gone back to finish. Really great reminder + perfect season for it. Also seconding everyone else on your vlogs being cozy. I'm sick (covid + conjunctivitis, 2-for-1 special yay...) and so I'm watching this while having soup for dinner. It has been the highlight of my evening for sure!

Oh my, I have STRONG feelings about your intentions to read the two classics. I adored Jane Eyre, it's amazing and the films are great as well but don't do the book justice.. however, I absolutely hated Wuthering Heights and DNF'd it halfway through. I do like some thoroughly devastating books with unlikeable characters (Gone with the wind, anyone?) but this one was just.. URGH. Really hope you get around to reading both because I'm so curious to hear your opinions 📚💚

In summation, "The Deal was awful but somehow enjoyable." Same, honestly. I am not going to read the other books in the series, since all the guys are dudebros (big turnoff), but I enjoyed The Deal more than I thought I would, and sometimes I just want to read uncomplicated trash because reality can be so bleak. I hated one of the tropes the author employed for conflict (no spoilers), but other than that, it was pretty fun. I think I gave it 3 or 3.5 stars. I tried to read Bully by Penelope Douglas afterwards and DNF'd it after a few chapters, but I am tempted by Lauren Asher's Dreamland Billionaire series or The Hunted series by Ivy Smoak. I enjoyed this vlog so much. Thank you. I finally got my twin sister to watch one of your videos, and now she is a subscriber.

Wow, amazing how clear that thunder was 😲. I'm listening to the audiobook of How to Kill your Family and really enjoying(?) it. The naration is done well, but obviously it's quite intense 😅. Unrelated, I think you might really enjoy the Thai tv series Bad Buddy. It has one of the best rivals to friends to lovers I've ever seen, and is also just one of the best series I've ever seen. It's free on youtube, and I really recommend just trying it out.

If you like warrior nuns you would love the Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir ! I actually think they are the best books I have read this year so far (especially the second book which stole my breath away)... I should introduce the series by quoting its cover : "Lesbian necromancers explore a Gothic palace in space". It does represent it well. And it is awesome.
