Translational approach for Pulmonary Hypertension

In people with the lung disease Pulmonary Hypertension, it is more difficult for blood to flow through the lungs. The right ventricle has to work harder to pump blood to the lungs. In some patients this leads to right heart failure. This cannot be cured and is ultimately fatal.
Thanks to the collaboration between doctors and the lab, we can increasingly help people with PH. Our translational approach, in which we study both the heart and the lungs, gives us the unique opportunity to immediately use discoveries in the lab to develop new treatments.
