How to fix a non shifting issue with these Check engine codes.

To Troubleshoot the Shifting problem on Dodge Ram Cummins I start by running the codes from the computer on the truck
P0108 - Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) Barometric Pressure Sensor Circuit High Voltage Input Problem
P0643 - Sensor Reference Voltage “A” Circuit High
P0480 - cooling fan 1 control circuit has a malfunction
P0483 - the PCM is detecting a voltage reading that is either too high or too low in the electrical cooling fan control circuit
P0868 - transmission fluid pressure sensor low.
After I have this info I think about what is happening, we have a high voltage situation based on the P0108 P0643 and P0483. We also see the cooling fan is "open" with the P0480 and that there is a voltage issue with P0483.
This points me directly to the cooling fan clutch so I then investigate the problem and find that the wires have been cut by the fan. I remove the needed parts from my parts truck and install them on my princess. After that I take it for a drive and the transmission is back to normal. The check engine light was still on when i test drove it, but it cleared on its own the next day.

Wow thank you. I had a electrical issue in the door. Needed a new wire harness. And when I picked up my truck - it’s not shifting right. I’m getting the low line pressure code. I’m going to check to see if there are any more codes lol. Thanks

No - I had serviced the transmission and put an after market pan. I torqued everything to specs but somehow the pan was leaking from the drain plug (after market pan) and the filter was loose in the pan. I went back to the factory pan and replaced the filter and all was good for a month lol. Then back into limp mode and same code. The dealer said the valve pack needs to be replaced. I'm thinking maybe some silicone got loose and jammed it. Or maybe it did just go bad. But it's all good now. Well my exhaust brake doesn't work and check engine light is on. So on to the next fix lol Thanks

I have the exact same issue but no codes! After I replaced the fan clutch the tranny is acting like nothing is there but barely goes anywhere. Do you have any thoughts?

P0480 and P0483 code Fan of course. Truck doesn't like 2nd gear i cant get her to hold the greatest in 2nd unless im light on throttle. Wont hardly shift to 2nd without me letting off to force shift it down. Also...when i drop the shifter in 2 it acts like manual or just strictly first gear. All other gears work fine 07 ram 3500

I had the same codes but my voltage was low instead of high. My fan clutch harness was also cut of. Changed the fan clutch and new fan but my transmission is still not working correctly.. Did you reset the transmission in any way or did you just swap the parts and it was fine? Mine is a -04.5.

I may have cleared the codes or disconnected the battery, I can't remember. I would try it.

So what was p0643

High voltage to the pcm. In my case, it was the wires crossed going to the fan clutch that caused this.

Codes P0735 and P0729

Are you running a tune? Do you feel slippage in 6th gear? Have you checked your fluid level?

@@The.Odyssey disconnected it to see if it would run better. Changed the transmission fluid and filter/gasket. Just ordered a new transmission today.

Are you sure that's what it was fanclutch was making the transmission no to shift ? I have the same problem and those two code dtc p0108 and dtc p0643

@@The.Odyssey ok thanks I'll verify that I do have those two code and I yest overhall the transmission but this truck has a lot of issues too that I has to fix too
