You're right that most manual transmissions don't have a dipstick like automatic transmissions do. To check the fluid level, you'll need to locate the fill plug on the side of the transmission. Once you remove the fill plug, the fluid level should be at or just below the edge of the hole. If it’s not, you’ll need to add fluid until it reaches that level.
