Look forward to see it working, you do know alot of shops would’ve just scrapped it, due to up town shop rates. And with a little bit of ingenuity and time it should be working again soon. Looking good 👍

Hi Joe. That's where I got it at a dealer. They don't want to mess with it so guys like me buy them from them. Its always a gamble sometimes you win and sometimes in this case I get a big pain in the butt but I'll get it working and still make money on it. Take care

I have a good friend that I helped get set up with a John Deere dealership, works real well for him. The John Deere’s seem to sell fast ,people around here like them. But he has gotten so he doesn’t like working on the other brand’s now and there’s times I wished I didn’t get involved, good friend but a poor businessman Shit hope he doesn’t read this...

I bought a old craftsman lawn mower rider from a guy and paid him 350 for it. It mowed my lawn for years and the only trouble I had with it was the mower deck I had to weld it up several times. But it kept on going till it just finally quit. And then that weekend two years ago I bought a 2100 dollar peace of junk called a Husqvarna.and now with it only having 115 hours on the meter it is falling apart. And believe it I have treated this mower like a baby I wanted to get as many years out of as I could but NO it’s JUNK and I’m not afraid to tell anybody that will hear me out. It is junk.

If you take apart the old one, try to film it. I'd be interested in seeing what went wrong.

Nice work and hopefully a good upgrade Dave! Nice that it bolted right in. Plastic transmission shouldn't surprise me, but it's still amazing they'd go there. Pretty sad. Sometimes you can't take the camera with you, it easily doubles the time it takes to do a project.

Hi Niles. They are really getting cheap these days. Yes sometimes filming just takes to much time. Sorry I'm late for the reply

thats good you have the option to replace that plastic mess with something a bit better anyways.

Well your thumb looks sore. I have never been a fan of the belt drive trans axles Metal or plastic. . I wonder if the motor on the doner tractor was the new 19HP single Briggs too?? A pioneer video!!! Good for you. Sometimes I turn off the camera just to get stuff done.

Hi Bruce. I the doner said on the side 20 or 21 hp. This guy is sold already if I can get it working. Which I will you know that. Thanks buddy and take care

I’ve done 7 so far and kinda figured out what is the best way to go now 😮 Most have been jd D series in great shape and fairly good condition plus will sale good, listed driver belt number under hood for new owners 😊

I’ve been installing the older VS trans to replace plastic 💩, though it was a winter job and only took couple of days so I started doing it for the public 😊

How's she goin'? Garden tractors all look pretty much the same from the outside but under the skin, there are lots of differences. When you try and retro fit parts and pieces, you have to do some stick handling eh!!! Nice job and I'm sure it will work out for you!!! Take care!!!

Had problem as described with drive stopping on a small hill. Nothing worked even after installation of new transmission. Finally used belt dressing on main drive and now the R800 transmission works well.

Nice video. I have that same crap transmission, and so far, after replacing the seals, and installing shims in between the trans/wheels, the tractor still runs. However, I've noticed that I"m still having difficultly getting the mower to go into reverse easily. It's almost like I have to tap the acceleration pedal to go forward a few times before the pedal allows me to let it to go in reverse. So at this point, I'm biding my time waiting for that trans to die on me. In the meantime, I've worked out a process of hoisting up that mower, removing the wheels and dropping the trans every year in the winter time to clean those components. It seems they get packed w/ dirt and debris easily. Both times that my mower had issues, it was due to one of my kids toys getting run over and shooting into the variable belt mechanism. I keep wondering if there is a better trans out there that I could buy to replace this junk. Thanks for your video.
@davessmallenginerevival28474 жыл бұрын
Hi nate. Well I've heard these are recalled and you can get a replacement transmission with all the hardware but I wouldn't know how you go about that or if it costs a lot of money. The trans they send are like the one I put in. Good luck

From what I justed watched, the General transaxle Gs800. It is filled with grease not a fluid. I'll find out tomorrow when I crack one open.

Hoping that Tuff Torque works for you. My money’s on good engine removed and a bad hydro on the parts mower. Hate that brand of hydro even if they are made about 60 miles from me here in Tennessee.
@davessmallenginerevival28474 жыл бұрын
How much money John? I already know the answer. I get a lot of my stuff from a dealer that has a parts back row and the salesmen don't know what the story is on most of them but that's why they give me good deals on stuff plus they like it when I buy the whole thing not just the part I need. Because they just want that crap gone. Someone may have needed parts off this engine so they just bought the engine and maybe the hood who knows. I forgot to tell you guys it had a hub cap for a steering wheel. First time I ever seen that LOL. Take care

I have that same mower.T2200.Had to replace left front wheel because it was shipped with no grease in in it ($100). I said something to the hardware owner and he said "there's your problem.It's a craftsman." Now the seals are leaking in the transaxle so it's in the shop.I dread to think what the bill will be.Never buy another craftsman.

I feel your pain! Just did this to my 2014 Husq YTA24v48 since my GT RS800 failed...for a second time. First time, it clogged with grass and froze in forward. Second round, it couldn't handle the hills and burned up...would only creep along if I feathered the throttle. Any how...I installed a TT K46CR (posi-traction) making it a YTH24v48 2019. Took me about 2 days and $150 in spare parts. I found the TT trans for $450 new on ebay, so it was almost cheaper than buying a new RS800...which I did but it was damaged in shipping and sent it packing. They wanted $700 for a new GT, so I am very happy with the TT upgrade.

I got a Husqvarna had a plastic cased junk General transmission, seals leaked all the oil out. Damaged the transmission, I'm gonna change it over to a hydrostatic transmission. Got a tuff torque hydro, in my Cub Cadet. Not 1 issue mower has 765 hrs on it.

Based on the amount of possible "dead" transmissions discussed in these comments, I'm hoping that someone might want to sell me a Primary Variable Speed Drive Pulley for my Craftsman 19.5 HP 42” LT2500 Lawn Tractor. (Sears Craftsman Model Number 944.602630). As discussed here in 2009 (for this one year only) Craftsman decided to use the problematic (plastic) General Transmission (GT/Gentrans) RS800 Transaxle. The tag attached on the transmission reads General Transmission 415663 (87007 C4) and 415663C0100033. It is a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)) and not a hydrostatic drive.
