Agreed. Would have been a nice addition for the client if they wanted that.

I own a 2011 Sprinter Van. When we bought it we had sportmobile in Texas install the pop up they make. I finished the bottom with 80/20 extruded tubing. The good: it does allow more room at the bottom for mountain bikes and dirt bikes. The downsides: The pop up is fairly narrow and it does allow two to sleep up in the pop top however I prefer to sleep on the bottom bunk I made that folds out. My wife sleeps up top. The biggest down side is when sleeping up top you are basically sleeping in a tent. If you are boondocking and isolated it is not a problem with noise. However we have had problems with noisy campground neighbors which can ruin a good nights sleep. Unfortunately these times it happens really puts a damper on the entire pop up feature. So much so I would never do this option over again. The advantage of the shorter height van loses its appeal. My prior 2001 sprinter van was a tall version. If doing it over I would put the side window extensions in than allow a 6 footer to sleep crossways and allow add a small AC unit which also cannot be done on a pop up version.

You can get a roof pod which is hard top.They cut a hole in roof over back half of van & extend roof by 20-30cm.Also adds more height over bathroom for shower 🚿. You can also get the Mercedes Sprinter L4 H3 which is 7.3m long & has super high roof of 2.24m which is good height without roof pod but with roof pod you can square the edges giving more room & have it higher.On a L4 H3 if you put a roof pod on that you'd only need 10cm extra but instead of curved roof be more square giving more room.Look into Sprinter moto vans with Roof pods.

You guys did a really nice job. I drive over 100k miles per year hauling bikes. I used to sleep in the trailer with the bikes to save $. I realized at some point I wasn’t going to wake up in the morning from the fumes. That being said, I would put weatherstripping on the door between the garage and living area. Everything looks really good though!

Totally get that. This one was built to client specifications for their bikes. Our Robson floor plan has a adjustable lift bed which provides more sleeping room when fully down and when up, more room for working with the bike. It's a great option when you don't need a dedicated fixed bed.

I would like to see how two bikes look, it seems quite tight, may just be camera angles etc. The bottom door hitting the seat may also be a hindrance when accessing the grey water tank, and the bed area seems tight. All that said, I like it. I have a speedmaster (with a touring screen) and a Himalayan 450 and I would like to build a van to get both bikes inside, currently considering a box van due to width and height options, maybe with a tail lift.
@udmbfckx2916Ай бұрын
I would make it a 2 person (2 bike already) van by just using the 2 front seats and the table in between. Then, where the other 2 seats are, I would build one of those square shower stalls with the rotating clothes cabinet that goes inside when not being used. In this way, after a long ride, you can stay the night off the grid after a shower, a decent meal and some sleep and ride again the next day with some additional clothes hanging in the cabinet. Yes, you'd loose the window too and the cabinet above.

I think this is the smartest thing that's come down the pike in a long time.. I've been wanting a Class B but the reason why I haven't bought one of them because they're all crap and there's no room for my e-bike which is a 20K machine and its taller than a 125 dirt bike Lincoln out climb one two so therefore it has to come with me and be stored inside.. I might just be contacting this company I like mine with an air conditioning unit and maybe it closed in bathroom but I'm sure anything is possible. it looks very intelligently engineered kudos to you guys who designed this other companies like Thor ,Winnebago, Coachmen watch and learn... but we know that's never going to happen cuz you've had plenty of years to do that

Thank you for a wonderful build and video. What do you think of a Ford Transit Trail for this build? Only suggestion I may have is some type of handle above bed to aid with going up (could be a single point L-track with strap) , also, I personally would replace the fixed bench seat with foldaway one to open up space when bench seat not needed (can always lay a mat and sleep on the floor, given u would lose the current bench seat which works as a small bed).
Perfect for myself, a 56 year old guy getting away from wifey.😊

Nice van, however these types of RV's are well into the $250K+ price. I think I'll stick to a Class A toy hauler. Even though they are bigger, they can still make the camping spots that the "Sprinter" can get into. Not to mention they tend to be less expensive. If money wasn't an issue, yeah these are very nice.

How are people having you modify the vans to deal with the intense smells from things like rubber from spare tires, moto chemicals needed for maintenance and repairs while out on trips, and just the bike itself. I assume gas in the box on the back door. Thanks.

I lived full time in a van with my bike in the back for 10 months. And I'm currently on a month long trip spending every night in the van again now. These vans have roof vents, windows cracked slightly open in the front and the roof vent open and you don't even notice there's a bike in there, and I have a carbed 2 stroke so if anything would smell it's that

If you make cabinets, finish the edges or it just looks just sloppy. Like using 8020 rails without a smooth finished side facing out. Look at any quality RV coach builders from 25 years ago and in Class As, see what they did that still looks fresh and classy today. Separate yourselves from the sub par builders, finish your cabinets or buy them from quality cabinet makers. You are charging for finished work, finish the job. Seal the garage access door also.

Yeah nice and clean now but once you start actually using that mini garage with all the accessories and stuff you want to take with you, that will change. So looks tidy now but that will change. When the brilliant government killed our economy during Covid, I found myself unemployed so I took 6 months and built a similar setup. I have a liter bike (sport bike) in mine. With helmets, jackets, surfboards (3), and a bicycle. Been living in mine full time for 3.5 years.
