Transnistria: Soviet Union leftover.

🔵 Moldova’s Transnistria region is an unrecognised breakaway republic. Its origins are related to the Russian Empire and Bessarabia and during the times of the Soviet Union it was part of the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic. After the fall of the USSR it had disputed status. This led to war in Moldova. Transnistria had independence due to support from Russia and this continues to this day. Russia’s Gazprom provides gas to Transnistria for free. The start of the Russian war in Ukraine caused problems in Chisinau-Tiraspol relations.

5:28 The Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (Moldavian ASSR, 1924-1940), which I never hear get mentioned when people talk about Transnistria's history, they always start with the horrors the fascistic Romanian government's crimes in conquered territory as the Transnistria Governorate during 1941-1944 (the occupation was incredibly cruel and it should be rightfully mentioned, but it would be correct to start from the beginning, to include this event as a founding myth is to promote fear of Romanian unification and anti-romanian sentiment). The Moldavian ASSR is an artificial bolshevik creation after Bessarabia's unification with Romania, on Ukrainian land on the eastern side of the Dniester river, as an autonomous region under the Ukrainian SSR, on land that has no historical relation to neither Moldova nor Romania, and because of this ASSR the Moldavian SSR and Republic got stuck with this problem to this day with their fears of Romanian unification and so on. Funnily enough when talking about Moldovan history you can talk about three separate histories that weave into each other and can come to the conclusion that Russia or Romania is evil.

@buziaku извини конечно, но мы не можем считать шериф как партнера запада, это мафия, в недалеком прошлом они убивали конкурентов, угрожали, закрывали в тюрьма, это продолжается и сегодня, как напрмиер Хоржан. Об этом не может не знать европейские чиновники, это говорит о том, что шериф коррумпировал не только в Молдове, но и в союзе кого нужно для повышения своей влиятельности. Какая разница между западом и рашкой если для запада это не припятствие?

It is, of course, very funny to insult an entire nation without reason, actually wishing them war and genocide (using the word "Transnistria" for Pridnestrovie), but aren't you afraid that karma will take its toll on you or your children?

@@buziaku В каком смысле общепринят? 99,9% носителей английского языка отродясь не слышали о существовании Приднестровья. Каким образом можно говорить о некой "общепринятости"? Этот термин, употреблённый по отношению к Приднестровью, является прямым требованием геноцида приднестровского народа, именно в таком виде оно было введено в оборот в ходе конфликта 1989-92 гг. По-твоему, это не является оскорблением?

@@buziaku Если быть точнее, то герб т. н. Царства Польского, или, более корректно, Привислинского края. Если ты идентифицируешь себя как наследник этого территориального образования, то тебе не обижаться надо, а гордиться. Мы ж с тобой тогда соотечественники. А что до территории - уж Польша нам точно не нужна, и считаю ошибкой решение Александра I присоединить её к России вместо того, чтобы отдать Германии и Австрии, потребовав взамен исконно русскую Галицию.

Big thank you for Mr Kamil Całus for shedding important light on Transnistria puzzle. 💡🧩 It was amazing that Moldova: - was not affraid of economic retaliation from Gazprom side, - showed new levels of political assertiveness and energy resilience.
