We need to do this because wife never researches and just does things We planted 2 of them on a raised garden bed and next to our timber fence We sre worried they will eventually damage the fence and retaining wall What power tool did you use to make the job easier?

Were these plants not in the ground for long beforehand? (I am trying to move ours and they are welded into the ground?)

The part I kept which had about 40cm+ of root is still alive and well. I composted the other parts as I couldn't find a good spot for them at the back.

It's kind of a shame you had to do this because of foundation issues, as they make a beautiful accent plant to your house. I'm only at the 5:00 mark and don't know what eventually happens, but I hope you replanted them somewhere else. The plants are beautiful and graceful and enhance the landscape in almost any location.

To avoid all this, that is why it is important to be well informed about the plant or tree and the variety of the species you are buying...🤷‍♂️ and also the place where it will be planted, because seeing where you planted them takes away everything. the visualization of those large windows and the entry of light inside...🤷‍♂️ the strelitzias that you have bought and planted is the Nicolai variety ( 6-8 meters) or the alba (10-15 m) both with white and very leafy flowers and the case of the alba variety is arboreal... You should have bought the "strelitzia caudata" with orange flowers (2 m) if you liked a mass of plantation and also with large leaves...or the ideal thing so that those windows shine and good light enters your interior. "strelitzia reginae" orange flowers (1m) 😉

Well after watching your video I have decided to hire a gardener to pull out my Bird of Paradise and divide to replant. My "plant" is 6+ feet in diameter! The only thing that made me sad was the fact you had some really beautiful plants that I think you were throwing away.

I honestly don’t think they will ruin foundation cause I have a 80 ft ash tree next to my bedroom and it hasn’t run the foundation for 60 years so how are these roots going to ruin foundation
@DougieL
@DougieL 8 ай бұрын
These are not Ash tree's? These bird of paradise plants are notoriously destructive. They will ruin a pool, a wall, a fence and a foundation of a house.

We had 3 at our old place and once we moved out and rented it out the tenants never maintained them and they eventually grew so big they pushed the fence and retaining wall which was both concreted They can get very big They need lots of space
