Thank you! It was really helpful to see a visual example of when a plant might be big enough to transplant! :)

After weeks of watching different videos daily, I found yours. My wife and I just started planting vegetables (and marigold for an outside deer repellent) that we intend to move outside and are totally new to this. We have an indoor greenhouse for now, but hope to still use it during the winter months. You have the best videos mainly because they are not too long and straight to the point with great information. Had I found your videos in the beginning, we would have saved a lot of time and frustration. Thank you.

This is a great video full of good tips. If you ever want to accelerate germination a bit you may want to try humidity domes if you haven't already. They will keep in the moisture so you do not have to water as often, maybe once a day or once every couple of days. Also, the addition of some grow lights will supplement the natural light of your window sill and help plants get their true leaves faster. Just gives you more flexibility as to the timing of things.

Is only one seedling per cell recommend? And if not how does one transplant a group of 3-5 seedlings successfully?

I have couple of seedlings that grew but the leaves are withering already. I have kept the soil moist, is there something I can do to revive them?

Great Video! How do you repot them again when they outgrow that size pot? I'm asking because I recently tried to repot my banana tree and I killed it.

I planted some seeds from trees. They are ready to put in bigger pots now. My question is : where do I keep them in the fall and winter ? They are now about a week outside. A bit scared to treat them as other young trees…

If we have 2 seedlings growing in the same pot do we need to separate them when transplanting?

Yes you need to, and the better thing is if your are transferring them to one large pot then divide it in half and plant one type of seedlings to the pot's one side. Leave some space around 6 - 8 inches and then plant the other seedlings to the other side of the pot

It’s easier to just plant em together and clip one of them if that’s an option you wanna do

How much water should I give a day for plants that are 0 - a couple months old? ..say in like, inches?

I like to bottom water to avoid getting them too wet. Add ~1/2" of water to the tray below. The soil shouldn't dry out, but don't let it get super wet. You'll get mold / damping off of seedlings and might need to start over. Over watering is a common mistake and hard to get right.

Why not just begin with one seed in one 4" pot? Can you explain why it would not work to save one step?
@JzsaJzsa
@JzsaJzsa 3 жыл бұрын
You can start off with a 4” pot. People usually start of with the cells or trays because they are growing a large number of seeds. Also they save space, but you can start with one seed and replant it later when it is bigger and needs repotting. Hope that helps I’m learning too new to gardening.

burying a pepper plant will stunt it for sure. Tomato plants is the only one i know you can bury it like that to make more roots

I heard that If they haven’t come up it’s because they need the sun so you really have to make sure they get some sun ☀️😊

I decided to go crazy with planting this year. I ordered my first seeds in February. Haha. I live in Maryland so it was way early. I have potatoes, tobacco, hops, tomatoes, peppers, corn, watermelon, pumpkin and all kinds of stuff. The first ones I planted only a few survived. I transferred two from the little seed pods to a larger pot. They both died. I out them in potting soil. Then I tried early seed starter in larger black things. Much More soil. They are all growing. So many tobacco. I am growing that for my grandparents. It all goes well I’ll have to find space for 25 tobacco plants. Hmm why am I saying all of this? Haha. I have seeds in the mind.

It's not dirt, it's soil, and you should never work soil when it's wet; that increases compaction.

I was thinking the same thing and I have found it I push and compact the soil down my plants don't grow well. I keep the soil loose and make sure there is about 25% perlite to help eration
