Great video. Got an LT35 SDI… have had much fun and games trying to tune the pump. Finally got some feedback from a forum I joined. Basically the wrong timing point described in a ‘manual’ I had bought. Van starts on the button but starts to run poorly after about 5 mins… anyhoo..when I get back home I will hopefully sort that with VCDS..
@Stainless316L11 ай бұрын
You can also fine adjust timing on the idler pully if I remember correctly.

Hey I did the timing from this vid, van sounds great plenty if power but a bit smoky following the belt change, can this be sorted with the vag computer? I've checked it 2 times seems OK? Where in Ireland are you based? Would love to get mine DOE done and start my camper build!
@shedworxxx Жыл бұрын
You might be able to make a fine adjustment on vcds for the smoke but, on older diesels it can sometimes just be the nature of the beast.

You mean AAB 2.4 5cylinder with throttle cable ?. Then no, as there is no tensioners on the pump belt so you dial it to 97 by rotating the pump

Hi mate, I recently had the two belts replaced on my T4 2.5 TDI, it’s now making a rattling noise, it’s going to a VW specialist next week, could the rattling be due to the diesel pump out of time? Or cambelt a tooth out? It doesn’t do it all of the time, most noticeable around 1100rpm. Cheers 👍
@mikeharrison5087 Жыл бұрын
Check crank damper for splits/movement you can't always see it but it's a metallic noise sounds awful. good luck 🍀
@haraldpost Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. But I must say I don't think it is a good example to use a wise grip as counter hold. The cam bolt is very tight so you were putting a lot of twisting force on the camshaft. I would advice anyone to counterhold at the cam sprocket wheel using some camshaft sprocket counter holding tool. What you are measuring with the gauge is pump lift. If you let go of the pump wheel it will simply slide back to zero on the gauge. That would not hurt a thing.. So there was no upside to locking up the pump before undoing the cam bolt... the last thing you'd want is some of that cambolt torque to transfer to the locked up pump. I only lock the pump when it is set at the correct prelift. Then I set the tensioner and roller in a middle setting and carefully tighten the camshaft bolt (with counter hold). Then I release the pump lock before fully tightening the camshaft bolt (I think mine was 100 nm).
@shedworxxx Жыл бұрын
100% agree with you. If I had a cam holding tool I would of used it.
@alwynjones-ht4kxАй бұрын

10.9 bolts are 100 nm and you should fine tune the pump with the tensioners and a scan tool 35 to 73 at working temp
