So far, just watching 4 of your videos has blown my mind on things I didn't know, and giving names to things I was already doing. I have a pretty deep masculine voice, and a metal growl that shakes the foundations of the underworld, but after a few minutes of practice with your videos, I'm doing noticeably the best job I have ever done singing along with Olivia Newton John. You've picked up a new subscriber here, and thank you so much, I absolutely love you. 💚

The actions and the theory, as you lay them out, were the only way i could understand how to improve my singing when i hit a wall with it. The implied, indirect language used to describe anything other than pitch-which is commonplace in pedagogy-made no sense to me and had no consistency outside of shared metaphors.

I think my singing voice has dramaticaly improved since I starter "hacking" my voice with voice feminisation excercises. I recomed this a lot. I am still in a lot of work and far from perfect. After starting fem excercises, my singing ability actualy.went down. But i think it is becouse with fem singing comes big change in your vocal areas and you actualy sometimes feel like starting learn singing for very first time, how ever good my male singing was. And people were doing fun of my singing a looot. But it maybe be just me... But now. I have never been able to product "listenable" singels with my male voice and also fem voices. And now i can. Trolling my friends with it or just enjoying it :))) Even making impression of various fem singers now i try. But this level is far from perfect yet. I am just mostly happy be able to sing female kind of natural sound i am still looking for and beeing identified as a woman... A huge shouth out to your help Zee, love you, your big fun. (i am male born with baritone kind of voice. After follow fem voice excercises and a lot of singing tutorials and practice and theory about voice... I am now able to sing bass, baritone, tenor, and female voices, doing variety of sounds like a beatbox too. I was singign from childhood. But never i have been so far if it was not for voice feminisation stuff. It is exactly, the hacking :)))

Even just focusing on raising the larynx has made some parts of rock songs, primary 70’s prog rock more accessible. I would have called myself a baritone before, but I don’t know anymore. I have found some of Sharon Van Etten’s stuff more accessible too and also Gracie Slick (just White Rabbit and only just barely!) so yeah, for sure, vocal feminization practice as you are teaching it has already made a difference. Working on feeling and retracting the false cords is really beneficial too!...oh and by the way, your getting stunning!

These videos are extremely helpful, even just having words to put to things I was doing anyway helps to make changes intentional. And all the rest of course. On a previous video, I commented how many of your concepts of R1 explained a lot of my vocal qualities and technical difficulties. I’ve been trying out vocal feminization, with limited success - I’ve been struggling honestly. However - R1 awareness *hugely* increased my control over my singing voice! I’ve been able to breathe and articulate better, reach wider registers more comfortably, and switch to and from falsetto much more fluently. Everything simply sounds better as well. Thank you so much for everything you do, it has a wonderful impact on so many aspects, as you summarized in your conclusion. Thank you thank you thank you!!

putting this here since this is the most recent video. I have a question for you: based on yourself and any students you've had in the past, how long would you say is the average time to get to a point where your voice is "naturally" the new behaviour? how long before it becomes difficult to speak in the old voice? Would having 1-3 days off per month speaking in the new voice (cuz i dont wanna cause any arguments with my mom) disrupt the behaviour change significantly? Also: how do you learn to control the larynx? I still can't figure out how to lift the larynx on its own save for swallowing. Thank you so much for your input, I'm an avid follower of this channel.

Would vocal training let you learn to like, get your singing voice to sound like a cis woman's singing voice? Like with speaking, I know lots of people over focus on pitch when resonance is more important, but in singing, voice type is presented as even more of a like, pitch based and unchangeable thing. And they say male voices can only ever be bass, baritone, or tenor, unless they're a countertenor (who actually just sing in falsetto), or very rare exceptions like John Holiday who sing high in their modal voice. But is all that because of singers not training resonance control? Would resonance training allow you to sing with the vocal qualities and pitch range of different voice types than your natural one?
@woomy89713 жыл бұрын
Check out her "singing to you" video; it's definitely possible!!
@rylie89893 жыл бұрын
@@woomy8971 I had listened to that video, but I'm not at all musically knowledgeable (I know lots of people who ask singing related questions are people who are already trained singers wondering if vocal training will mess with it. but personally I've only ever sung in the car lol) so while I definitely think it sounded beautiful and definitely is completely passing, I don't really have the ear to tell like what kind of pitch range was being sung, or like what parts were or weren't falsetto or anything technical like that
@gillianomotoso3283 жыл бұрын
If that were the case, no male could belt a G5. And yet there was Jeff Buckley. And there is Brendon Urie and Adam Lambert. There’s a lot more to the story. There are men who can sing soprano arias - and even thin out their voices to create a feminine sound. Hardly is anything lost for us. If Nick Pitera can exist, so can we.

i’m not trans but i want my voice to sound more feminine (i’m a cis woman). the vocal pitch analyzer says that my voice is androgynous with a masculine tone, and i want to change that. it’s so embarrassing for me to speak out loud sometimes. it makes me so insecure about myself. i want to do these exercises but are changes going to appear by themselves in my voice over time, or do i need to force myself to speak that way so i start hearing changes? does anyone know?
@Lenyberry3 жыл бұрын
hey, I'm a natural alto who used to get really embarrassed about how low my speaking voice was after puberty did its thing (going from a kid-soprano to a true alto is a bit of an adjustment that no one thinks to prepare us for the way AMAB kids get told to expect their voices to drop! I know true altos like me aren't actually hugely common but, it would've been nice to have SOME kinda heads up that "voice drop" of sorts can hit with an estrogen puberty too, it's definitely less dramatic but was distinctly perturbing when it happened to me, nonetheless). I didn't change it intentionally like this but I did sort of slowly try to mimic higher-pitched, more feminine ways of speaking, and it did overall change my habitual speaking voice over time. And now I'm working on re-expanding my low range because I want the option in my vocal repertoire (got here on a tangent from throat singing techniques because I'm all about maxing out my vocal versatility). Anyway, once you have the ability to make the speaking tones you want, it's just a matter of deliberately them enough that they become habitual instead of something you have to think about doing. I did it fairly subconsciously just because I wanted to sound more "like other girls" and fit in, I didn't deliberately do any vocal exercises about it, so I'd say you'll have to speak in the voice you want to make habitual a lot so that it does become your habitual speaking voice.
