Off topic from the subject of the video. But what is y’all’s opinion on dogless traps? I seen some Bridger 2-coil #2’s online that are dogless. And wanted y’all’s opinion.
@Northwoods2082 жыл бұрын
Not that my opinion is worth much, but I love dogless traps. Faster setting, less moving pieces to freeze up, and usually are a level pan from the factory

Good traps, most people that buy them, buy more.

One more thing we need to stress that fur is a renewable resource people are starting to come around on it but the antis have way to much funding.

I work at a natural history museum and micro plastics from faux furs are a million times more destructive in the long run. A fur coat made with natural materials will degrade and return to the earth but synthetic fibers will pollute far in to the future

Appreciate the video podcast. I always have to tune in when Groenewold is talking. I kind of thought there would be more comments by now, so I guess I will be one of the first to chime in. a) What do we have to do get more domestic demand? It's always foreign markets. The old timers complain about fur prices the most and yet I hardly see them wearing fur. I watched hundreds of students exit their school today into -10 degrees and not one of them was wearing fur. 2) I find it comical how Guy puts a positive spin on things. $10 beaver for the hatter market is not a positive spin. My point is how bad does it have to get before Groenewold Co. throw their hands up and says its bad. Always a glimmer of hope. 3) As Guy said, the new generation wants something that will last 3 seasons not 3 months. The problem is the new generation is afraid that a fur hat is going to come alive and bite them if they put it on their head, my family members included. They are just plain scared of real fur. It is like they are petting a horse at the zoo when they were 4 years old. 4b) Since the market is in the tank, are there any changes in fur handling? Maybe not caring about ears and tails. Maybe wire vs wood stretchers. Maybe not sewing up that hole on the belly. Maybe not cleaning or tumbling. A hide might have fetched another 10% (or more) back in the day if it was shown off, but today?

My main fur is marten,fisher beaver and otter I put 6 traps for coyote and was the worst season I have ever had with coyote but the upper peninsula is packed with wolves and theres no bobcat here worth catching there solid brown deer brown the only fur here worth catching is beaver and marten/fisher our mink sell good to tourists but they still are very low population

Guy would make a good politican. Alot of talk and no action. Get out there and trap and we wont give anything when you sell.
@Northwoods2082 жыл бұрын
That ain't no shit. Talks about how there's always a market for marten, then offers $35 stretched and dried, that's totally worth running a 40 mile line on a snowmobile...🤦🏻♂️
