At first I had to get used to this look, but now I've got to say that there's something about comic book Trap Jaw that I find makes him better than the first, traditional Origins (and perhaps even vintage) version(s) of him. I definitely like this better than how comic book Tri-Klops turned out.

Minicomic Trapjaw, is one of my favorite figures and don't mind not having the first version. In fact I prefer the more barbarian elements on him than the tech greeble.

I love that the different looks are getting their day; especially since so many who were fans from the minicomics wanted these looks not Filmations. I'm definitely one of the Filmation fans, since I didn't read nearly any of the minicomics until just the past few years. But, Trapjaw was one of my only two figures I ever had (thanks to their size and proportions and my being a teen making me feel emberassed for interest in "kids toys"), so this look has a special place for me (even though I think I eventually colored in the comic to match Filmation and the figure). One thing that the cartoon did that always annoyed me though was how, unlike here, his laser didn't extend far enough on his arm; it always seemed unimoressive because of that.

To be fair, it was not the Filmations look the fans didn't want. Filmation was it's own thing. The vintage line is what the fans referred to. Or in this case the mini comics that came with the vintage figures. The Filmation cartoon is adapted from the original vintage toy line that started it all. Not the other way around. 😊

Amazon just cancelled my order for this particular Trap Jaw this week saying they can't fulfill my order "Due to a lack of availability" even though I HAD IT ON PRE-ORDER since November of last year. Had it at a really cheap price too. So p*ssed. 🤬

This one did not skip leg days in gym, and I like it more because those thin legs in the first release look really wrong.

Just a side thing, One thing I was concerned about before getting the figure was how "Green" his skin looks, I'm personally not that big of a fan of a full "sunny-yellow Trapjaw" but in-person it does look a lot more green than on photos. Not like a lime or neon green as much as a neon yellow, if you will. I think I wouldve perferred a little more green on the guy, but he's not bad.

That’s crazy I was just going over that thought myself right now, and see your comment on here - I’m gonna tell you I think you can rest assured that, since fan favorites mini comic trap jaw has been released, I think it’s just a matter of time before Mattel also releases the fan favorite classic trap jaw. It makes sense for them to rerelease The mini comic version first, then the classic one after which is of course more sought after and they know it. Patience will pay off.

This guy has become about as hard to get as the original Trap-Jaw. Unlike the comic version of Stratos which is a major peg warmer, this guy isn't in stock anywhere that I've seen.

Great figure. But Mattel again missed the mark. Where are the eyebrows and the two spikes in the side of his that was in the comics. The classics version has it. Why couldn't the origins have it. The way I described it is in the comics. What a shame. Great video Dan. Keep up the good work and the nastalgia of my childhood.

Bought this but its arm is really hard to actually stay on it falls off a lot maybe it’s just a defect on mine also when I had the figure in its packaging the arm was loose. Anyone have the same problem?

Hey, Pixal Dan, Thanks for doing this comparison between to two of 'Trapjaw', he would have looked good at yellowy green in the original cartoon series, than the blue, wow, the classic version had all the correct details, a ram for the belt, gosh, many regards :)

He claims that sources he knows told him that by spring this year all current masters toy lines will be done, and for the time being so is the toy brand as a whole. Do you know anything about this?

I haven't unpacked them yet, but I think it's the exact same piece, but this one is painted silver.
