I carry a knife on me everywhere. It's more useful as a tool than a weapon. I use it multiple times a day. I even have to carry one at work to use for opening boxes all night. In the states it's just seen like having a tool you carry to use all the time. Unless it's a giant Bowie knife or something.. a nice flip blade is the most useful tool to carry on you. The law regarding knives bans certain types, but it also states that if you have a legitimate reason to have one (self defense is not counted as a legitimate reason) then its fine. So if you need a knife at your place of work, you wouldn't be breaching the law by taking it to and from work. But if you walked around with it on a Saturday afternoon you'd be in breach of the law
