I'm starting to think the self snitching is like a form of confession to the church type of thing they got PTSD from doing things like this so in a way bragging or talking about it is a way of confessing and/or a way to lift the guilt without showing how much you might regret the situation. If you have normal emotions you growing up killing people is gonna affect you no matter how much you want to hide it and be tuff, its in human nature to talk about things that affect or change them. Guess what? Back in the 80's and 90's there were loads of media and press talking about guys like Sammy the Bull but the police never really managed to catch him on a big charge because HE NEVER TALKED. I mean, he properly had the Feds wiretapping him and following him around but they couldn't get him on ANYTHING MAJOR because he kept his mouth shut. Along comes Gotti, who couldn't keep his mouth shut, and because of all the crap he shouted on tape Sammy was finally arrested. The point is, Sammy and his like were effectively managing to evade the FEDS even DESPITE the KZbinrs of the day all talking about them. It wasn't until Gotti self-snitched on tape (and even then he didn't know he was being recorded, unlike these rappers) that Sammy was caught.
