Every elevator power unit should be designed in a way such that there is a battery with sufficient battery power to allow the elevator to go one floor downwards automatically when the elevator is above the ground floor and then open the door automatically when there is a power outage. This is absolutely feasible in this age of computer and advanced battery technology. The elevator designers and engineers are so stupid to just allow elevators to get stuck between floors with people trapped inside who need to be rescued. The politicians governing cities with elevators are also stupid not to make a law demanding such a feature to be built into every elevator. I guess they are too busy making new laws for fining people or putting people in jail for calling a so-called transgender person with the pronoun that he or she doesn't like.

It would be absolute mental torture, on top of the no food/ no water situation... remember, during the actual ordeal he didn't know he'd be rescued after 41 hours. It was a complete unknown to him how long it would take or even whether someone would find him at all before he succumbed to dehydration... definitely a traumatic experience It's a massive fuck-up on the part of security/property management, someone should've noticed the live footage of a guy sleeping in the elevator for hours on end on a Saturday, especially when they were apparently doing maintenance on *every other elevator in the building* ... complete negligence all around
