Pretty much this. Red had all the early food he could ever hope, had a tc on stone line, had gold nearby, had forest nearby. He just needed a dumb opponent. Which he got.

How ironic. Blue trapped Red in a tiny box and Red had to break out with the help of 2 castles. As soon as Red broke out, Blue trapped HIMSELF in a tiny box protected by 2 castles.

Blue's mistake was not really using the massive economic potential he had over Red - at first, it looked like a perfect, easy win for Blue, but he simply could not keep the pressure up - this is a perfect situation when you want to engage into war of attrition.

I can't fathom why blue waited so long for castle, had 800 stone, and didn't just plop two castles, one behind either wall. Needlessly tower rushing such that his opponent was able to eat that stone investment and then just retreating backwards was so silly. Two castles would permanently trap his opponent and starve him out.

Would secure about 7/8ths (you can divide square into 8 triangles pretty easily, by imagining smaller rotated square inside), which is 87.5% which is SUPER close to your 90% estimate. As a number oriented person, I salute your percentages :D

You can assumed one herdable represents an actual herd, which means there's also probably a herder with them that's just not being shown.

I'm 900 elo. I cant believe this is the 900 level. It makes no sense to wall half the map! I agree with the guy in the chat, 900 is TOUGH! I get close to 1k and then gets slapped all the way to like 850 on some days! I don't get why blue didn't build a castle for ages after reaching or buying the rest when he walled red in. Could had been game over!

If I were blue, I would have put as many villagers as I could on stone, put up 2 lines of palisade and 2 towers on each side. This is to ensure they can’t break through. Then make a market and increase prices for stone and gold as much as possible. Would this strategy work?

Probably not because the towers wouldn't apply enough pressure and you're investing a lot of res and vill time early. Like T90 pointed out, the tower in the woodline pocket would likely have been game ending because it would have kept red from gathering wood. Towers behind the palisade wouldn't have kept red from gathering anything, and once red got Ballista Elephants, the breakout would have been successful anyway. I think blue's wincon was dependent on the proper early tower placement into a castle age goth infantry swarm because he simply had SO much space to boom his economy and he could have tied red down better if he'd been more aggressive with his early towers

3:35 ah yes, the classic Disney story, where a pet cow voiced by Chris Pratt finds its way home from a foreign land. It is closer to son of a whore, and well depending from the country some insult are considered worse than other even if they mean the same things. In France son of a whore is rarely used as friendly banter. When someone call you that they genrally meant to insult you. Also the fact he had a "really" make me think it wasn't banter, and it is poor sportmanship.
