Is it normal to put that many sets in a location or were you just showing all the possibilities? I normally only put a set or two as I see something that catches the eye. And I don't catch many mink. Lol maybe that's why?? Maybe I should be setting everything... I'll definitely try taking the lower level view as well. Thanks
@montanawolftrapper86669 ай бұрын
Yes that’s how I do it. 2 sets on each side of the creek.

I ran 20ish sets for a week and didn’t catch a mink!! Crazy I had 4 sets out and caught one in a couple days. So that’s why I put a bunch out then nothing lol. Maybe I caught the only mink in the valley lol

Just started trapping mink this year. Quite addictive. Up in Lincoln county, some of my spots look just like that. Do you find they hunt in pairs or groups 2-3? I connected on a three way trail with three mink. two female one male. Could have been caught separately over 48 hours too.
@montanawolftrapper86668 ай бұрын
Early in the season kits are still running with the female. Then they split off. Breeding will start end of February and the males will be more frequent covering more territory. If you catch a female late in the season with bite marks on the back of her neck she was bred. I love mink trapping.
@taylormarvel9748 ай бұрын
Good to know I’ll lay off them mid February. How far do you go in between locations? I don’t see what you where baiting the pocket hole with. I havnt been successful with a pocket set yet. Using fish and beaver fat. went to the trapping class two years back and one of the instructors said you where a wealth of knowledge so I hope I’m not a bother if I keep asking you questions. Im working on video documenting my trapping as well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
@montanawolftrapper86668 ай бұрын
@@taylormarvel974 I usually set every bridge I cross. Set up all the beaver dams you find. Muskrat beaver and trout make good bait. A good shell fish oil or fish oil is key.
