It is good to see a fellow Trapper wearing the fur he catches, I encourage many more to do the same.

Got a nice little subscribers bump after this posted. I think Eric should definitely put his bobcat in a bag. My jacket still fits just fine. 41 days until beaver season opens!

Great show Rich. I've been a subscriber to Ian's channel for a couple years now. You just made him famous and his chest is going to be stuck out so far now that his jacket won't fit lol. He's a nice guy and has a great channel. Later and all the best.

Excellent job on the video. Very interesting info here sir. That was a nice lynx Ian caught there. Big trap, interesting trap choice...cheers
@muskrat4117 жыл бұрын
Would you use less trap? I have some Oneida and other traps but the Jakes seem to work the best. Plus the extra trap comes in handy when you get a wolverine. Always a chance I might catch a wolf too. Be interesting to see if the Jakes will hold a big Northern Tundra Wolf.
@hunt4fish7 жыл бұрын
We don't have wolves or wolverines here on the rock so I stick to no3s mostly, lynx and some big coyotes. Never tried the Jakes first time I've seen one actually.
@muskrat4117 жыл бұрын
Yeah I got them from another You Tuber he traded me a dozen for my antique bear trap. I use some #3 but I only have a couple. They catch lynx. Caught a wolf in one once it chewed out right away. It was a black to. Just three toes left in the trap.

Honestly curious, but is there a market for the meat of some of the Fur bearers? I've heard that beaver is a very rich red meat, but I was wondering if the carcasses are left with the trapper or can they sell the meat as well.

Beaver meat is very good, so is lynx and muskrat!

Hey by the way have you ever watched the videos about the Canadian beaver in terra del fuego (Patagonia)
@muskrat4117 жыл бұрын
I have its so cool how they took over a primitive ecosystem and more or less destroyed it. The farmers are more or less helpless against them. It's been a while since that came out I wonder if they have moved into the Amazon yet?
@ecr125x7 жыл бұрын
muskrat411 I don't think they've gone to far from terra del fuego bc the environment is perfect for beaver there.. always wanted to go on a trappers vacation there... I'm pretty sure there shoot on sight/open season to harvest beaver!
@muskrat4117 жыл бұрын
Yes there may even be a bounty. I was looking forward to them saturating that environment and moving on to the Amazon. See if cayman and boaconstrictors are a match for the Canadian beaver. With such an energy packed, fairly easy to snare rodent comming in in big numbers there should be a boost to the populations of Amazonian lost Indian tribes.

Sorry I mean should I put my bobcat in a bag like you do with your lynx.
@muskrat4117 жыл бұрын
I knew what you meant just giving you a hard time for no reason. I use a canvas tent bag. The main point of putting it into a bag is to keep it from catching on stuff in the sled. So a good solid bag of any kind will work, even a burlap sack.

Why is it important to bag your catch?
@TrappingIncTV6 жыл бұрын
To protect the fur from rubbing, some of these animals go for over 100 km sleigh ride before they are back to the cabin. Most are frozen and if they bounce around against each other the pelt will be damaged.

Hey Rich, they deleted my channel. 14k subs gone like that. I had to make a new email and account just to get back on here. KZbin is not trapper friendly. :)
@TrappingIncTV6 жыл бұрын
Really? Why? That sucks man. Are you starting another channel?
@CGoffgrid6 жыл бұрын
I already started new account and have been re-uploading videos as fast as possible but it's just not the same. Going from 14k subs to nothing just sucks. 😔
