There is so much inspiration in this. I have a Tikka 243 that can hit a quarter at 325 yards and a 7 Rem Mag that scores almost perfect at 1000 yards but this can only be used if I see the target. A trap or snare is always waiting for the target. Don't have to hope for good timing this way.

I may not be a trapping expert (mostly researching, gonna start this coming season), but because I know about fibers (I spin my own yarn), I would estimate that wool would release the scents longer because it it more porous/absorbent than cotton thus resulting in a longer period of scent release. Plus, it smells like sheep, which is a plus for coyotes. Cotton works just fine if that's what you have, it's a great idea. Try them both; trapping is 99% experimentation, 1% set in stone. Good luck! :)

Excellent videos, 18&19! I'll say this though, MB550's are the better trap out of the box. They are more expensive, but you can open the box, degrease and set. The Victors and Dukes work, after being tuned.

I assume you skin out your yotes and sell the hides? How do you go about that? I'm about to start trapping strictly yotes after deer season. I've always just thrown the coyotes we shoot during season in a ditch somewhere and I hate feeling wasteful but I have no use for them. Once I start trapping I'll have enough to do something with them. I'd like to see a video for the aftermath of what you do and your process of dealing with what you've caught as you don't see many of those kind of videos. Keep up the good work

How many Coyotes do you take every year? To be honest I hunt two properties in upstate NY and it just seems there are a bunch of coyotes, bobcats, foxes, and racoons . Now I am trying to get into predator hunting but I don't think it will be very effective in controlling predator numbers and I happen to live in Brooklyn NY so I can't trap because I would have to check my sets every 24 hours. So its pretty complicated. I really do however want to take some predators out.

hello I am alexs father I was a trapper in the late 70s after 9 years in the USAF I lost the land to trap and all my traps. my son and 3 of his friends talked me into trapping this year so they can learn. I set 7 today. 14 more to go,your videos have been a lot of help to all here and just wanted to say thank you very much, trying to trap public land with proper permits. Do you have any ideals to keep traps from being stolen.
