Nice video. We've been doing this for years on our farm. But we just drill the holes in the trap out ourselves and just cut a piece of PVC pipe in half to cover the traps up. And even cheaper solution for PVC would be coroplast or corrugated plastic. You can find it at most hardware stores. Hope this helps, my friends 👌
@jonathanrogers99616 жыл бұрын
That looked like a piece of plastic downspout, might be cheaper than pvc

Jonathan Rogers That's what it looked like to me. he starting hammering in it and I'm thinking, that's just a rain gutter.... But hey, worked really well it seems.

@patrickkimbrell88736 жыл бұрын
CapnHolic read the comment above this one☝️☝️
@-danR6 жыл бұрын
Not exactly. Not even approximately. Corrugated plastic would bring to mind those wavy sheets of plastic (or perhaps similarly shaped fiberglass/acrylic plastic composite), or else that strong corrugated cardboard-like analog in plastic (the stuff they often use for real-estate and election signs and other signs, etc. Rain gutter is a bespoke extrusion (or on-site roller or other process) material with a single U-cross-section, and is what we're seeing in the video. They may, or may _not_ ,incorporate some corrugation on parts of that cross-section to impart linear stiffness, but they are not corrugated plastic per se.

I'd suggest a longer cover and multiple snap traps each side of the hole - that way voles climbing over their dead friends to get out would become flippable too. Even just two traps each side would double the speed of elimination. If the traps were secured to a plank it could remove the necessity to nail each trap to the ground. One could even use a small sheet made of plywood with a hole that went over the hole in the ground - or some flexible material that could accomodate uneven ground surface.

I love your videos. I started watching them when the voles were eating my wife's EXPENSIVE bulbs. (the bulbs all look the same to me but She knows the difference.)The best cure I have found for voles is mole beans. We planted several around her flower garden and we place the beans in their tunnels. They have moved out to the pasture instead of the yard now. I love it when you build the old traps and catch mice with them. I hate that youtube demonetized your videos. That's why I "watch" them instead of skipping. I want you to get all the money coming to you.

I have a huge vole problem and I've been patiently waiting for you to test out vole traps. Trapline Products is actually local to me, and I've had my eye on their products for a few months now. I was hesitant to order in the past, thinking that I could just lay out my own mousetraps and find my own trap cover. I haven't been able to find a easy substitute for the cover at the big box hardware stores, but after seeing you test out the vole trap for yourself...I think I'll just fork over the money and pick some up.

If you don’t have the time for trapping just back your truck down there . Stick a hose down the hole a foot or so and hook the other end the your truck tail pipe. Start it up and let it run for 30 min. If it’s a old enough truck put a few drops of oil in the carburetor with it running. That way you can find all the voles exit holes.
