Trash fish in the states is treasure Fish on the Islands! (Bonita

Many in the states would call Bonita (skip Jack) Trash fish, but we here on the island of Guam and many other islands would consider this treasure!
Many times it’s used for bait and other stuff, but we consume it on the daily if we’re lucky enough to catch ‘em.
My dad is visiting from America after my grandmothers passing and with a few days left to spend, we took him out for a grandpa and grandson fishing trip. As much as we hoped for a more productive trip, the quality time was well spent and we were happy to be able to get him a fish to bring back and cook up for him, my step mom and the rest of the family.
Here’s a quick fishing trip and catch and cook of how we like to prepare Bonita.

How many pound test you use for your Bonita lures ?

Most of our Bonita lures are hand tied with 50 lb test by Don Pedro.
