Very easy to repair a Stihl and the company pretty much has ALL THE PARTS "Stihl" Biggest expenses.. The Recoil 35.. The filter, 3.51... And the Orange shroud @ 25! If it had all of that, it would of been a CHEAP FIX, a under 17 dollar repair.

Not done with this Piece of junk yet. It runs awesome and cuts very well! Its hard to start now and then and it floods and shuts off after it idles for a bit. I'm glad I ordered a carb kit days ago predicting that would happen. I believe the diaphragm and other parts are just REALLY DRY from being probably 23 years old or so,. Zama Carb rebuild video soon! Probably spent near 100 on this thing but its AWESOME when it runs..

i seen on fb marketplace two stihl hs80, hs85 for 25$ hopped on it and got it with in 20 minutes. The machines havent been run in years the guy said, got home redid carbs and fuel lines and eveything. Even though the hs80 is a pretty heavy for useing it for hours its a screaming demon. Only problem i had was the machine was getting to hot the (exhaust screen was clean) and ran a lil crappy after an 30 minutes. All i did was drill a decent hole in the exhaust and man a beast.

My buddy gave me his Dads HS 80 he wants to get running for him . I put spark tester on and no spark .Gonna have to tear into it ,see if kill wire is shorting out ! I noticed his primer bulb line is just inside the tank not reaching down into the fuel .Don't know if there was a intake piece that fell off or what .

The fuel tank filter piece with the hose is a common failure part Its a rip off price online they want alot for it at the local Sthil dealer out was like a $3 part Online they wanted 3-4 x that The Primer line is just a vent it just goes into the tank on the side its fine I made mine a little longer when I replaced the lines so it wont pull out New grommet too

Where did you get your parts. I have an hs-80 that I am rebuilding. It runs good but, like you, I want to replace a few things.

I found this one in the trash! All im into it is in parts which was too much mostly because I needed the correct recoil. 35 bucks and the orange shroud which was 25 bucks! if it had those 2 things I would of been into it for 25. Just went to a local stihl dealer. They have the parts breakdown but I also looked online and I found some european site for part numbers. I gavet hem my number list and they verfied they all worked. Think I had more luck " Hs75 parts diagram" or "HS75 parts" its really the same thing just a shorter bar. Dont buy the parts online because the prices are INSANE its so much cheaper at the local stihl dealer \. Some Acehardware's sell stihl now so check that out. They probably will not have many or any parts instock and will have to be special ordered. I had to special order alot of the parts but they come quick I went through a local farm supply place who sells stihl.

Two Stihl torx screws down in the handle hold fuel tank to handle. Replace fuel filter while you're at it.

My SH80 is a great machine and I’m going through the parts to look for needs of replacement. Did you clean the spark arrestor on yours?
@GhettoWagon
@GhettoWagon 3 жыл бұрын
it was clean. Its hard to get out. Not bad for a trash find. Cost me about $70 on parts. The correct pull start was the most I had to spend. If it had that it would of been a cheap fix

@@jf2613 Jon, since last week, I have reassembled the HS80, found how to remove the engine from blade chassis to clean surfaces and adjust coil gap. The spark arrestor screen would not slide out of muffler so I removed muffler and sprayed WD40 on screen. Today I will try to remove and wire brush screen then install. It might be best to replace the muffler ass'y.

Now the carb - spacer gasket is leaking, Well it probably was. I was cheap and did not order a 80 cent gasket.... This is the cause of its erratic idle because its leaking vacuum and even gas/oil from there lol. Its a nice machine when it works, runs great at all RPM ranges just idles bad. Rebuilt the carb yesterday it was not too bad, Diaphragm was worn and a little dry.
