It does make sense, the seller is benefitting by getting rid of a large amount in a single sale, without having to find buyers for each individual item. The buyer hopes to recoup his costs with a few big ticket items, and then the rest is usually profit. It's supposed to be a win-win for the buyer and seller. This mystery box was just a scam.

@@NezzaDubs There are two types of mystery boxes The type done by large companies like MJ Holdings, which distributes pokemon, their cost of goods is so low and have so much overstock that they can afford to "lose" money by making mystery boxes to get rid of extra stuff. And then there are mystery bxoes made by, well, not multi million dollar companies, these are the types that buy inventory online and on ebay and then put them into mystery products, usually they deal with rates so that they have some margin of profit after everything is said and done. In the case of this mystery box for example, after ebay fees and shipping, the person is probably making maybe $100, and that is assuming they didn't pay taxes on the items being purchased for the box, and completely ignoring income tax. Getting rid of excess inventory isn't how these people function as, well, they don't have that to begin with? Most mystery box sellers only sell mystery boxes, they aren't card shops or distributors.

I am from Germany and just have to say i could sell all the graded cards in this Video for double price on eBay Germany?!😅 On the other side i would have made no difference in pricing for the modern Boosters at the beginning of the Video... Vivid voltage, Cosmic Eclipse, burning Shadow, darknes ablaze... You can get them all at 3,5€/4,5$ here online😅 Peace ✌️

I like the way you recovered the video, nothing worse than sitting down to edit and realizing your mic was messed up! Great video Pat! There’s definitely a stigma around mystery boxes that they don’t have close to the value you pay for them, this is a great example. Unfortunately it just seems people are offloading all their extra stuff in these boxes to get money out of it. Would be amazing if someone could pull their head together and execute on a mystery box type of business where the customer does get their money’s worth - if not more! Maybe one day...

My first initial thoughts are if a business was signed up with a distributor, you could put together a mystery box with packs you get at wholesale price because retail value and market value will be higher than getting them wholesale. You could set up a few artists to create artworks of Pokémon that could be included inside the box too. There would have to be something of “value” outside of just the cards themselves, like an ebook, or training/education or art or some kind, a convenience or resource that could be used - heck just thought of it now.. a way to display these pieces of art and white labeling the product! I’ve thought quite a lot about figuring out some form of subscription service for Pokémon fans to provide them products monthly on things they love. Still working on ideas... but I think it’s possible!

Bro I think the packs was opened an weighted I’ve seen people at flea market that open packs so good an easy an they use a certain type of glue an it seals it preffect no one can ever tell it don’t even leave left over glue marks tears anything an they buy empty opened packs on line to reseal if they are in perfect shape I hate it wish it was illegal to sell empty packs so people couldn’t do that but that’s what some mystery box people do he sells his on eBay just like that an will throw in good hollos in packs to equal out values an me as a collector it’s very disappointing it shocked me when he told me an just broke my heart wish everyone was just honest in the Pokémon community cause most collectors, we just love the hunt an take pride in our collections cause we did the work an we pulled them but great vid bro hope u get better luck next time I’d stay away from mystery boxes all together unless u just want the risk for the videos on the tube bro 😎 Good Luck Yo 👍
