Those single packs might have been weighted or specifically chosen out (the sun and moon booster box had this pull pattern in the order of the packs), which guarantees hits and misses for the packs, might have been the reason of the bad pull rates

Those bad rates on the opened packs makes me think they have a way to sort the packs (weight or some other method) to guarantee they only sell less value packs

Sometimes it's just bad luck .plus alot of the newer sets aren't weighable bc of the color coded code cards. They weigh differently the green code cards in packs with hits are lighter and the regular code cards are heavier this offset masks the weight difference so that all packs have the same or similar weight . There are however a few sets where they messed up

You are pretty much guaranteed to lose money on every pack. Probably not worth their reputation to fix the packs in any way as they are already making more profit selling sealed. Some sets were mapped, I remember the card shop I went to would shuffle the packs in their Sun and Moon boosters boxes as once a customer found one GX they could pick the rest of the GX packs out. Many MTG sets were even more mappable where you could know what every rare card was and the location of it within the box just by buying one pack.

this is the perfect video for my 2 boys to watch. almost weekly my kids are tying to convince me to let them buy pokemon cards. they have it in their brains that they are going to open a pack and score a 20 000 dollar card. honest videos like this show how much of a gamble it is. and that 99.9% of the time you are going to throw money into the trash. thank you

I've opened a few vintage packs in the last few years I did it because I enjoyed it. I wanted to go back to reopen the packs I did when I was a kid growing up. I knew I probably wouldn't get the value but I loved doing and have have pulled a few vintage holos from it.

I'm trying to get every Pikachu I can find. My son who passed away 3 years ago was a HUGE Pikachu fan so I am collecting them all in his memory. I have followed you for years as a fellow marketer (we own a large eCommerce outdoor living company) and I just found this channel. I got back into Pokémon collecting at 38 since my daughter (7) started getting into the series and cards. I would like to add that I have never seen a pack sold over here under the price of 6 euros. I live in the Netherlands, and I only started collecting starting the celebrations period to be honest however I did have some luck somehow since I was able to get lose packs of celebrations for only 4 euros at that moment in a local shop. They would not let you pick up more than 4 pack per person per day so I had to bring in my daughter and husband to get me some extra packs back then. So I think prices may vary on where you are located perhaps.
