The issue is the revenge doesn't feel satisfying because typically in a revenge story a character grows or falls from doing such a thing. But the MC is so psychologically messed up that he became an engine of suffering. As a result its hard to feel any sympathy for his plight because he lost himself and now is emulating the very trashy people that did the bad things to him. Its worse than a tragedy its like a bad ending in a light novel except it goes on and on and on. Like the people in question have it coming but why not kill flare, why erase her memories and carry her around so he can put more suffering into her not that she will remember it anyway. Its just a really messed up story that likes to pile misery upon misery on itself.

As someone who read fan translations of the web novel way before it got a manga and anime, it's actually a pretty decent dark fantasy story. For the messed up scenes, obviously it's not as bad because no visuals but also the author spends more time explaining WHY his revenge is in that form rather than focusing on the acts of revenge itself. Also, the s*x scenes are usually just one or two sentences and not completely depicted as in the anime. They definitely went full H for the anime adaptation.

Personally I couldn’t get into shows like Redo, essentially “bad things happen to bad people” type stories because I just don’t feel that sadistic glee in watching horrible things happen to people anymore, even if they’re horrible people. I don’t enjoy suffering, I guess. Probably why I prefer stories in which the protagonist grows from the experience and becomes a better person for it, the greatest revenge against someone is proving how insignificant they are in comparison to you, that no matter what they did to you, you simply grew past it, becoming a better person than they ever could be.

As someone who read "FUKUSHUU O KOINEGAU SAIKYOU YUUSHA WA, YAMI NO CHIKARA DE SENMETSU MUSOU SURU" first, BEFORE learning about Redo. Redo of a healer was... Okay. It's basically soft core porn. And I didn't like the fact he was making a freaking Harem. With the other one, you basically question the mangaka's sanity a lot. It can get THAT fucked up. But I weirdly still enjoy it. At the very least, the revenge for the enemies are more creative than just, everyone gets the R. And the MC, Raul, is an entertaining madman. Like he is just jokers level of crazy. He was completely broken for what they did to him. But he kept his intelligence which is a scary combination.

For me, the reason I was able to enjoy Redo, is I paid attention to how hard they made us hate the party. Everyone else must of been sleeping during those parts, cause they really are absolute scum who mostly deserve everything that happens to them. The sad part is, the main character was a genuinely nice guy before they destroyed him. He became a monster, but only because that's what they turned him into. He's by no means the hero of the story, you're not meant to cheer for him, you're just meant to enjoy the hero party getting what they deserve (even if some of the scenes go way too far, that's just to show that he's not a good guy, and we're not meant to root for him)

MC Assasin was just a most skilled veteran assasin in our world, which actually has some character development when he used to be more cold. Goblin Slayer's first episode is VERY uncomfortable but beyond that (and the sex stuff goblins do) its REALLY good. Because, like, its story is about the titular gobli slayer developing as he forms connections with people while fighting goblins (and more powerful monsters he runs into while fighting goblins) and the characters in general are quite storngly characterised and intereting despite lacking 'real' names. It also has major female characters who, like, DO SHIT and aren't jsut there to fawn over GOblin Slayer or prop him up. Hell, Goblin Slayer himself is great because he's NOT overpowered, he's just...A DUDE, with most of his strength comig from how ruthless and pragmatic and prepared he is. WAY better than Redo of Healer, because in Goblin Slayer the rapists are FUCING DECAPITATED and NOT THE FUCKING HERO, plus the world ISN'T jsut unrelentingly bleak. Its DARK and DANGEROUS, YES, but there ARE good people in it and the heroes DO make things better, even if only a little.

Now I did watch it just to see how f**ked it was (I definitely got my answer) and he did at one point was going to leave one person alone due to having nothing against her but then she open f**ked evils pandora box and it was all downhill for her from there because then he had a reason to mess with her. Compare this to the story of the tortoise and the hare, which is also a fictional story. Even though animals don't really behave that way irl, you can still match it up to a real life human example. This is why I'm able to ignore most of the fantasy powers involved in Redo of Healer, because you can sort of match it up to having power in real life. But we can't really ignore the time reversal event, since there is no comparable event in real life. No one is gonna think "oh, I should treat people better in case they happen to travel back in time to ruin my life" There are probably several manga that teach the lessons that you mention, but Redo of Healer is not one of them.

On the apple note, they also compress pictures so if you send a picture to an android it will be blurry vs if you send to an iphone. Equally, you can iMessage if you have wifi so there's that. Of course a lot of other countries I hear use something like whatsapp or signal (hell you can use fb messenger) but most of us in the US just use the default text app on the phone so no one bothers.

Yeah for real. I love the trope of a weak character having traits that people underestimate, but some media has just ruined/bastardized the trope by making it unrealistic. Shield hero kinda fell off, but I think it actually did this pretty well in the beginning. He legitimately could do no damage, and needed an ally to survive because he could only use shields. His only powers that he could damage with involved sacrificing his own blood and going demonic and stuff. That made sense. Redo of healer tries to do that, except he can do way more than heal. "Corruption heal?" Seriously bro? That's not healing, it's just an attack. They really though they could slip that one past a brotha.

Nothing makes me cringe more than reading stories where adventurering party kicks out MC because they find their abilities useless. But then it turns out that MC wasn't useless and was infact super OP, and then the adventuring party starts failing and regretting that they kicked them out. It gets repeated so often that they are straight up clones of each other. Although I am still reading them just for the guilty pleasure and entertainment.

I watched the anime and read the manga, and I honestly don’t mind it at all. I can’t feel bad for the protagonist’s victims at all since it’s the case of bad people getting what they deserve. Cause even if they haven’t done all the horrible things in the altered timeline, they still did some horrible things, and given the opportunity they would continue to do more. It’s a story of a broken character getting revenge on his abusers, I can’t really fault him for that.

its a perfect revenge anime. the revenge against the sword hero specifically was particularly delicious. kyaru is an absolute perfect "villain" with clear goals, and because the people he wants to utterly destroy just happen to be genuinely evil people themselves you are able to root for his mad revenge quest. everybody gets hung up on the hentai elements, but they are missing out. its hard to find a show anywhere with an mc whos just completely unafraid to literally anything to achieve his goal, there is no moral high ground, and he doesn't claim it. he knows hes just out for revenge and he will do anything to get it. even villains these days have to have some noble goal or some shit or stop short of doing some crazy evil shit because they want to monologue or the heroes have plot armor, low key most writers are ashamed to just let villains be villains. none of that stops redo though, true un-ashamed villainy. just cant find that anywhere else. the revenge against the sword hero is what really sold me on it. truly a delectable feast of revenge. i bloody love redo.

I am at the same time fascinated and shocked at how the show tries to justify Keyaru's actions while seeking out revenge. In my opinion his actions make him just as evil as the characters who wronged him. Oh, and after he goes back in time, he's got some god tier plot armour going for him. My eyes roll at how stupid and contrived some of his plot conveniences turn out to be. It is absolutely an incel's revenge fantasy. I hate it. I don't think anyone should watch it. But it's a horrible train wreck I can't avert my eyes from.
