@@kaldo8907 Right! I feel pretty neutral/chill about this author, and appreciate his honesty about his almost mercenary approach, though while he complimented the most niche writers, he may have found his own neat balance of anticipating and catching on to new trends just as they rise or hit their apex, without simply following an existing one...or completely fleeing in the opposite direction, at least, from how things have been described so far. That being said, while he seems to be a more...ugh, Lawful Neutral? Or Chaotic Neutral? Heck, maybe even more Lawful Good or Chaotic Good than we give him credit for, I think we need to follow his example, among many others, some far more famous, and realize that if someone truly felt moral convictions against one's work, whether artistically, politically, what have you, that maybe attention isn't always the best thing to give someone, as it may only help fuel their growth, success, and even defense, and that sometimes neglect/ignoring is a better strategy for "defeating" that which you "hate."

To be fair, while that's more violent and gory I think it actually lightens the tone of the scene because the focus is then less on the suffering of the recipient and more on the blood, gore and permanent injury. It can easily become extreme to the point of desensitization. Like how comedy horror spoofs often have huge gushes of blood from tiny cuts and play it for laughs.

When I started watching Redo of Healer I had no idea what I got myself into. All I knew about it was a revenge plot but not what form or shape that revenge would take. If someone were to ask me "Is it right to take a revenge on someone?" then I'd have to say "no". However, seeing how badly the MC was abused in various ways made me think "If there is anyone who deserves to have their revenge, he would make a good candidate". After a few episodes the anime became a guilty pleasure, and I started to enjoy watching it. Not just for the revenge, not just for *** scenes but also for the plot and the characters. By no means I'm not going to say that the MC has good morals but the very least I can say that I can respect how he knows where to draw a line. He himself said that if his targets for revenge had a change of heart when he went back in time and they were actually be good people this time then he wouldn't go on with his revenge. Just saying he isn't completely mindless insane person doing bad things to everyone he meets but someone who knows who he wants to take his revenge on. As for the content of the anime, I personally think it pushed the line further than, let's say, Ishuzoku Reviewers did. Ishuzoku Reviewers was more like episodic comedy with extemely heavy fanservice. Redo of Healer took a bit darker turn and was more open about sexual content, and despite of the sexual content it still managed to advance the plot surprisingly well. Also, both the opening and the ending songs were some of my favorites from the anime season. Overall I'd have to say Redo of Healer was something that I didn't think I was going to like but ended up enjoying it a lot more than I expected. Hearing the author talking about a cute fox girl and a lewd rabbit girl appearing later makes me really hope there will be a second season. I have a soft spot for characters with animal features such as ears and tails.

@@minako_mini4071 Sometimes it can be interesting and even exciting to watch characters with questionable morals. That was a great interview, it is very interesting to have a glimpse of how the author thinks. On my part I enjoyed the anime quite a bit. I didn't have any problem with the controversial stuff because I've never lost sight of what the villains did to the main character, so I was actually rooting for him to get his sweet revenge. However there were things I didn't like, I think that Hawkeye had a lot of potential to be a formidable enemy capable of bringing a twist to surprise me, but the battle against him fell short. So, although it didn't have any surprises, I think it was a good anime and I'm looking forward to a 2nd season.

Pretty sure 99% of isekai authors are deliberately writing trash that would sell and pander exclusively to the Narou audience. As he said, they know that there are people who would pay for their writing. Contrary to popular belief, isekai authors are not shit at writing per se, it's that they specifically curate shit writing to excel at a market that would pay for shit writing, it's a calculated low risk high return move, but at the expense of the industry's creative bankruptcy
@mishtesta4746

@@doraemonpawnz However, what's different about this author is the fact that he took high risk, unlike those 'low risk high return' ones. A typical Japanese reader would find it hard to deal with.

i mean he isn't wrong, i wanted to see what women like to read so I can entertain more people with my writing, and female young adult novels were very sexually graphic many of which were slightly violent to really violent sexual content. it doesn't start with the moms reading things like 50 shades of grey, it starts way way before that. also, part of the reason I say graphic is because it's literally graphic as in there is a LOT of details on the "body parts" with many adjectives that made me blush when I probably wouldn't blink an eye to a video produced by blacked..... so yes safe to say, many women like the assault/rape fantasy in a SAFE setting, why do you think women like rough play while having sex with someone they feel safe with. that doesn't mean that women actually like to get assaulted for real, those are two wildly different things. it's like guys who like reading and watching a male protagonist who is violent and kills people, it doesn't mean that your average joe wants to kill people.

'Office worker' is an insult to him. He's still a creator who pushed his work through publishers & producers and got recognition. He's not just trying to put food on his table, he's trying to have fun with it as well. That's what actually makes a good creator imo. Also I wouldn't judge a creator by only one of his works. I haven't read any but they probably won't be as edgy and clickbaity as this one. I have that much faith in this very sane man.

He's actually right about how sex alone doesn't sell as much as it should seem. Eroges are a very good example of this. How many times have you played them just to see the sexual action, but by the 4th or so sexual event, you start skipping the scene much quicker just to get through the sensual dialogue and move on to the next part. It becomes very formulaic in vanilla themes because the creator is just making sure every basic position is being portrayed until the game ends - it gets predictable and dull in the end.
@gametheus1306
@gametheus1306 2 жыл бұрын
Accurate, I need some emotion with those scenes! It's a big reason I love stories where those scenes are few and far between, like in Katawa Shoujo, where you might have two or three in any given route. They're pretty vanilla, but they're charged with emotion and paired with a soundtrack that remains among my favorites, even years after playing the game. A whole bunch of sex scenes can easily become boring, but a singular one or two can become deeply memorable.

It could sell if they diversify the protagonists to include half-black half-Japanese and market it to overseas market too via Steam. Changing the types of protagonists might diversify storytelling in Japanese works including all mediums such as RPGs too so it won't get stale fast.

eroges are the most boring games ever created, they are games solely created for those in the ages 8 and up, yes 8 and up no spelling mistakes there. Because when you're that young you see these games as something forbidden, and exciting, and once you hit the age of reason, these games lose pretty much all entertainment value. The best games are those who is a lot more than just erotic bullshittery, where the sexual stuff is more of a bonus, over the actual basegame. But since even those lose interest fast, and I've played more than 300 such games in my life, many before and many after the age of reason, because it's a very interesting field of games, not because of the sexual matters, but due to the actual diversity in underlying base games, there's everything from Schmups to Puzzle games.

Like he said, sex and violence sells, even if people don't want to admit it, our tiny monkey brains magnetize to stuff like that. 70% of what's on the news tends to be just that, and throw in some drug related stuff for good measure. This can also extend to other media types like games and movies/shows. The man knows what is up, and uses that general mindset we have to get his work out.

Similar for fantasy stories, there are countless good, proper, sanitary fantasy novels, that never see the light of day. Add a bit of controversy and then an army of tools will give you the publicity you need to stand out. That's what he meant. lol Then if you like something, say you like game of thrones, but everyone is calling your an incest-lover because it does contain incest, but it is much more.
