I sometimes fly with about 20-30k in photography gear and I 100% take it all as a carry on. There's just no way I'm going to let them out of my sight, let alone let airlines rough handle them or trust their logistics. I'd much rather run to a target or whatever at the location and buy some clothes and toiletries than get to a location and not have my lenses. I don't want to blame the victim here, but this is just common sense for anyone that regularly flies with "mission critical" equipment.

There’s a guy in Canada who left British Columbia to go to London. His bag went to an airport his airline supposedly didn’t fly to and he followed it for weeks with an air tag. It went to like Norway at one point, and a whole bunch of other countries before being delivered to a random guys house in a holiday town in the UK by car and the owner called the local police who picked it up from the guy who was really nice about it and finally shipped it to him at his expense. At this point, anyone who's carrying high-value product like this should know to tag these things before packing them. I don't want to throw the employees under the bus just yet, but there's a decent chance this stuff could have been pocketed by employees. You see so many stories of people finding out via tracker that employees steal items-- and that's really the only guaranteed way to get justice in situations of theft. But given we're already here, we won't know what the cause is, it's too late.

That's not always a good idea either. I work with UPS and the amount of times I've seen the courier just throw bags as far away in his van as he could throw is outrageous. They don't even look to see if it's marked as fragile, they just throw it and if something is broken it's always YOUR fault instead of theirs. You really need to be lucky with your courier. I know, not the best service but when it happens it's your word against theirs so they usually get away with it.

You cant sue them but depending on the insurance thats offered, they can request to be reimbursed. The standard insurance is at about $100-$500 per item, so they would have had to buy additional insurance. I hope they did. Putting a total of ~50k into your plane baggage (which is notorious for getting lost or destroyed) without insuring it properly would be really stupid. Especially considering that they are being backed by a massive company that should know this.

I've changed my mind so many times on this story. From 100% hating on the airline to now well. On the bright side Connor was in a story for the guardian. On the not so You learned the hard way how not to travel with expensive gear. I again don't want to blame the boys and staff but the more we find out that this was likely not tamperproof sealed, not insured, not tagged. That basically NO precautions were taken with 50k equipment in what amounts to the entire trash taste set up the more I'm sorry but your partly at fault. People had been warning about how airline were slowly being overwhelmed for months before they flew, they saw the airport in disarray, Garnt even said he had a bad feeling. THIS WAS 50 THOUSAND DOLLAR IN EQUIPMENT. The boys and staff are not at fault for this but damn if they didn't act like the world is sunshine and rainbows while walking though shit and ash. Hope it works out but at the same time you guys really should not of had to learn this lesson like this.

The first time I heard they flew with $50K bags with UNINSURED gear without even throwing in an air tag or two, I held no sympathy for them. Who does that like really? Normal people throw air tags or the like into their bags for less. Trash Taste also should have known better with the amount of traveling they do by plane. If I'm being completely honest it almost seems like they just didn't care. Like $50K wasn't enough money to worry over to prepare ahead for this trip. It just rubs me the wrong way the amount they complain over this issue when they brought it upon themselves.

the airline has been unprofessional as heck for not communicating with them, but people need to understand this is happening all over the world. it's a problem with understaffed airports all over the world and likely outside the airline's control. It's happening to every airline because the problem is airports dismissed staff for the pandemic and people either didn't want to come back or the airport didn't hire them back. and now the remaining staff is overworked and tired and traffic has shot pass pracademic levels because everyone wants to do the things they couldn't do the past 2 years.
