Heck, Edge Runners even ends up in space Just because it's Original, doesn't necessarily mean it be will good, Brand New Animal, for example had a fun and interesting premise, the animation was fine but the story went nowhere. I think Trigger's biggest issue is having a story that peaks at the middle of the show, then just goes off the rails. The characters are good, the conflicts are good, the dynamics between protagonist are good. But they just get all weird and crazy with the ending to the point of not making sense capped with tragedy and loss. Which is why I think CyberPunk ER worked as well as it did. They could only do so much in that space, it had to work in the world of CyberPunk.

SSSS.GRIDMAN was lowkey one of my most memorable anime in recent years, the ending threw me for a loop, but it was the fact that it built up to it, that there were clues throughout the story, and the question looming of whether or not these massive kaiju battles truly matter due to the city resetting but the memories of those lost being wiped out. The feeling of euphoria when that final moment hit and it all came to a realization this was just an escape, that is was someone copeing with their lives, and finding control in the only world they could. Yeah yeah, "it was all a dream", but the way it was handled, and the fact that there were breadcrumbs that looking back now if you rewatch it, you can see how everything was setup and built up from the ground, it didn't feel like the classic "OTT Trigger Ending". Yeah, it wasn't "for everyone", I'd definitely say, but there was something sincere about it, and the respect they paid to the series with not only fanservice but homage to the classics showed this wasn't "just another project". i also just really hate in general how people judge anime based on the studio name plastered onto it instead of actually looking at the staff. the only directors most watchers really know are like masaaki yuasa, hayao miyazaki, and satoshi kon. I think what I notice is that most of Imaishi's work before cyberpunk were all too similar, when it was gurren lagann and kill la kill it felt unique, but after that they just felt a bit repetitive in elements used. Watching those shows makes me want Trigger to make a Transformers anime. Given how the character designs from SSSS Gridman are references to Transformers characters. It's also nice to have a really good anime based on a Tokusatsu series. Fuuto PI came out this year but the anime community didn't really talk about it much. And as a Kamen Rider fan I thought it was eh.
@feedzuh Жыл бұрын
@@FireFury190 I think Fuuto PI's issue is because it rides directly on the main story of Kamen Rider W, and it's hard for people that haven't watched W to catch up even if Fuuto PI gave good briefs. Gridman Universe animes use the connection loosely (until Gridman is revealed to be the original one) and the whole SSSS.DYNAZENON is entirely original.
@FireFury190 Жыл бұрын
@@feedzuh Nah I knew Double's story beforehand and still thought it was meh. The problem is that it didn't feel like a lot was accomplished. Which might be because the manga still hasn't finished and explained a lot of the mysteries set up with Shadow Fuuto. And the uncertainty of whether we'll get a 2nd season or not. Doesn't help that we only cover 4 cases in 12 episodes. Cases now take 3 episodes instead of 2 like in the original show. Though it did skip a case in the manga that was filler. So it'll likely do that in the future.

No one said the take about Trigger that I wanted to hear. They have strength and it’s not story telling. It’s animation. When it comes to animation, they are top 3. It’s not a simple matter of the animation being high quality, but it’s incredibly stylistic. That is the reason why Trigger has their reputation. Also Dungeon Meshi now too.

I actually got into MHA when the first season was ending, and I wentahead and read ahead in the manga. At the time I was reading I think the manga was only up to around chapter 100, but a lot more chapters released before season 2 aired. Then, somewhere between chapter 120 and chapter 150, it just completely lost me, I just did not care anymore and I was struggling to read any further so I just dropped it. It was not very surprising to me at all when people told me the anime fell off after season 2, because I had the exact same reaction to the manga. MHA should be completely in my ballpark, but it just failed to hold my attention.

MHA, in my opinion Season 1: Good Season 2: Good Season 3: First half good second half hit or miss Season 4: First half good second half definitely hit or miss Season 5: Didn't even watch the first half apart from them working with endeavor and even that was meh. Second half was good. Season 6 So far, good. I would also say it's the best season so far IMO, nothing but non-stop action. All in all, I think it's a good anime that can lose people with its slower sections. The season 3 training arc is a good example or season 4s concert arc some people like getting to see the characters in a more relaxed slice of life setting and some people will abhor it you can't make everyone happy. The fan base is definitely the shows Achilles heel though, they are something else.

2:50 HE IS SPITTING FAX. Only issue is that Edgerunners is ALSO overrated. Sadly the greatest critique of Trigger anime is from ru speaking guy but TLDR, Trigger regurgitates same plot points but somehow it gets worse and worse with each new anime. It's literally animation spectacle over story

BNA felt average if you think they redo "Little Witch"... which is Trigger's ID... then Promare and so on... but Promare prepared the trails for Cyberpunk story wise... so.. it's a slow crescendo, and we want jumps in the formula... and it is a solid evolution of critique of the system...

@hansdiamante8884 Жыл бұрын
for Trigger i honestly believed they were confused on how to adapt cyberpunk and just tried intently to tell a story in their own way but wasn't really the potential of Trigger's style. Because if you've seen how they built up promare, LWA, gridman there was a sort of formula they add quirks and stuff and each climactic scene had a really good impact bit by bit to make it interesting and they mastered it. for edgerunners it was like them going out of their comfort zone for cdpr money lol. they exposition dumped lucy's backstory, couldn't really get that much detail on the other side characters, and even the antagonists weren't that much of an impact of the character's self-conflict like they used to. my point is that garnt is right that trigger IS "experimenting" hell there's even a documentary of them teaching new staff shown on the production of the series because they're gonna be the new style. but i just feel like them being "overrated" is kinda wrong to a degree that everyone is more vocal about hating their shows than people loving them when they're not showing.

To me, Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia are the only one I consider to be very good. Brand New Animal shove way too many thing in the second half and same with Darling in the Franx. The problem of My Hero Academia isn’t because Bones does horrible animation but rather how the author writes the story. He keeps forgetting the rules of “Show don’t tell” A good example is the recent episode where Deku uses all quirks at once. Like bro I don’t need you to tell me everything that is happening on screen like “ok so I’m going to use black whip to lift everyone off the ground and then I’m going to use all my force into this punch because it all depends on me now” like bro sh*t up and show the action itself already

To be fair the anime for my hero kind of has done a dogshit job at times with everything, including pacing. There are definitely a lot of boring parts to the manga, like the beginning of season 5 or getting their licenses but when it gets good it gets really good. The my villain academia arc was pretty good and while the anime didn't completely butcher it, they could have done so much better and I feel the same way with season 6. The 6th season doesn't have bad animation or anything but the art direction and music choices and everything give the whole arc a much lighter tone than the manga did

7:09 regarding Connor's budget drama. connor tweeted a hyperbolic goof that demon slayer must have a lot of budget was on that episode and it was all jokes. this was a common misconception but most anime fans tend to take it literally because they're really not versed on how money is spread on production. This lack of understanding tend to spread and might cause something like what happened with AoT, fans would go to individual staff member's twitter handle to insult them about the budget, their work, and spread the same "budget" meme again and again even though it wasn't even the budget that was the concern. It also creates a misconception for animators that they get paid handsomely for a cut even though the common practice is that they get paid per cut and not individual frames/quality of the work. a certain animator wanted to express their opinions on connor's said tweet, a lot of trash taste fans and anitwit disagreed and left some hateful replies. and coincidentally afterwards the dude was swatted. in a fit of rage of that moment the animator could only blamed connor's fans because the qrt had a lot of negative replies. and tweeted it so. after some tweets deleted and dms to handle the situation, the animator was fine and connor sent out a twitlonger. but noone really knew who sent out a swat on him.
@hansdiamante8884 Жыл бұрын
imo, both were innocent and twitter is just a toxic wasteland to ever be anything but wholesome. my takeaway is that trash taste is huge. huge enough for something this dumb to happen, to easily antagonize smaller organizations/accounts even if its not their intent. rn the animator barely interacts on twitter like they used to and just posts their work.
